So - what if everyone "delete_character" at once?
I thought this may be fun.
What do you think would happen if everyone offed their characters at once?
We would all come back the next day, as new characters, to find an island that is entirely abandoned except for random NPCs who are lying dead all over because towns are being infiltrated by sewer rats, wearwolves, wearboars, etc.
For the sake of taking it even further - try to imagine as if all fixtures and chest belongings were gone. There would be no leadership, no understandable history. Our characters would see a world with loads of empty houses, cheap shops, cheap boats, etc.
We would have to rewrite all the laws to every settlement, faction, etc. All history would have to be learned from NPCs and libraries. Overall, it would probably the most obscure experience a character can be a part of.
Do you think the roles/laws of the settlements & factions would end up the same as they are now? Or do you think they would be drastically different?

Owlbears are the only thing keeping Arelith from the D&D experience.

I think largely the same patterns would fall into place. There would definitely be small-scale differences, but on the large-scale it seems to be the geography of the server that shapes the faction/political RP, more or less.
Very interesting idea, though!

What if every player has lost all memory of the way Arelith used to be too?
What if the map was somehow completely randomized, and cities were renamed?
What if there was just an uninhabited island, where everyone has to work together to survive?

Yes, that makes a great deal of sense. I would like to think that the strongest and most determined powers would immediately strive to take Cordor, using whatever method necessary. Having Cordor as a lawless bandit city? That would bring all sorts of crazy things.Meglith wrote:I think largely the same patterns would fall into place. Lost all their memories? forced to work together to survive?
I imagine everybody would end up dead because they sat around debating on what to do with a lamp.
Sorry, that lamp thing that happened a few months back will never leave my memory.
But yeah, randomized and renamed? That would be neat.

The kobold caves, bramble woods, swamps/jungles and FoD would be clogged for months to come.

It would be a race to get to higher lvl. Because after 7 days houses come for sale and people will PvP to talk to the sign at the excact time.

Actually, I think they'd be quite clean for once.IndifferentPerson wrote:The kobold caves, bramble woods, swamps/jungles and FoD would be clogged for months to come.
I don't know about you, between and bicycles make me want to do natural things.
Re: So - what if everyone "delete_character" at once?
The City of Arabel server did this with a large update they made, I think. Deleted every player from the vault. People generally just remade their characters and remade the same factions. It did make things very interesting to have everyone on the same level for a while though.

What would happen if all characters would get deleted?
The same thing, that happened when a certain someone (*cough* I *cough*) banned the whole player base accidentally.
Lots of panic on the forums, lots of blushing on my side, and lots of whoops moments thereafter, and lots of gratitude to Mithreas for fixing things (And me, never living that one down, isn't it, Artos? )

Cordor would be finally free, for a short time, of pantsless elves.
For only $1 a day you can sponsor someone with chronic altitis.

What, for the two minutes it takes to roll up a female character?

Every time I take my robes off on Manobi and walk around Cordor, everyone tells me to put them back on.Urch wrote:Cordor would be finally free, for a short time, of pantsless elves.
Yet, a female elf walks by wearing basically nothing and it is totally ok.

Yes. They're less buxom, but otherwise nearly identical.

Well naturally, it would be like casting "detect evil" on someone when it is against their religion to have such magics cast upon them. anyone remember the OOTS page for this?Manabi wrote:Yet, a female elf walks by wearing basically nothing and it is totally ok.
Whatever action one takes IG, con be explained by something logical.

I really wish I had been here to see that.
Really though, I can't tell the difference between half-elves and humans. At least that makes sense with the lore with the whole "Humans think they are elves - elves think they are humans"

Meh. It wasn't so bad. The whole thing was resolved in a matter of hours. Her real punishment was listening to me pester her about it over Skype.Manabi wrote:I really wish I had been here to see that.
