Temporary Slave Collar

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:
- implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
- the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
- the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to tweak X class.

Temporary Slave Collar

Temporary Slave Collars

Offer an option for a ‘weakened’ or ‘temporary’ slave collar. These work just the same as normal slave collars, except, like prisoner collars, they can be removed at any time and don’t require the bribe.

Why?

Sometimes someone will not mind the idea of being a slave in principle, but they don’t want to be a slave for ages and ages. They want the story line of being a slave – heck maybe the –badguys- want the prestige of owning a slave, but neither of them is about this being a very long term situation.

If both look the same, when worn, then the player can make a choice – oocly – do they want to make this a long term situation or not? If not – maybe they can give the rp ago for a bit, then release it when they feel like it! Or when a dareing rescue occurs, or whatever. And – if they want to go hardcore, they can.

A lot of people have become disenchanted with the idea of ‘freeing’ slaves too because:
a) Often the owner just won’t sell them
b) Often the slave doesn’t want to be freed (which y’know, is fair enough and not something any suggestion can, or should, ‘fix’)
c) Often the owner just isn’t playing
d) Often the cost is just too much.
e) Often even if the slave has been freed, the fact the concept was so much of their character, it renders them unplayable and so they just disappear, making it a waste of time, effort and gold.

Indeed, nowadays it seems more and more people are refusing to take slavery as an option because they don’t want anything so long term, and further more, because they know that very few will bother with any sort of rescue attempt. Why do so after all? It’s almost certainly bound to fail? Slaves are so very, very, very rare that the owners are often entirely unwilling, even at knife point, to give them up.
A temporary slave collar would be those who want to give the slave rp a try, but not commit to it fully. Or one who wants to give their rescuers a chance at saving them. And for owners who want to have the ‘win’ of enslaving someone, but oocly don’t actually want to keep the person around as a slave for forever and a day.

'But why not a prisoner coller?'

Because Prisoner Collars arn't as 'glamerous'. Which is a silly phrase to use, but is true. People just don't go for it as easily and because it's obvious the person is a prisoner, they're more likely to be just ignored. Because of the ooc expecation of 'well, they cant ake it off whenever they like'
Prehaps another -way- to do this suggestion is to simply make prisoner collers, on a *looks* check, indistinguishable from Slave collers. Just a point.
