Critical Hit!

Post by Beneidalus » Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:41 am

It might very well not be the direction that the Dev team wants to go, if in the case that builds like Weapon Masters were the standard, and that other classes are due to be buffed (either in utility or power) to match it, BUT!

For the moment, crit's still seem broken. There's a reason Weapon Master is still so popular. Also, the spell, Keen Edge seems largely useless.

So my thought was, what if, at the 5th level of Weapon Master, instead of them getting an additional x1 crit damage increase, they instead received a stacking Mighty Critical +1d12 to their currently wielded weapon.

This means a x2 multiplier weapon would average ~70 damage, (GMW+5, Temp. +4, perm. +4, STR +13, Feat +4, +1d10 [Av. 5]) + 1d12 additional damage. Average 76. Down from 105 damage average.

In addition, what if the spell Keen Edge, granted another stacking 1d12 Mighty Critical. This means the new average becomes 82, max 100. Down from 105 average.

Lessens the severity of crits, along with making Keen Edge useful! Seems like a win-win to me, of course, assuming something like that is even possible. Maybe even makes Ki Strike more useful?
