Arrow and Bolt Recipe Change

Post by Baseili » Sun Feb 04, 2018 4:07 pm

Following Cybernet21's suggestion to move Arrows (and probably Bolts) wholly under Carpentry, I would like to suggest the following recipe changes to accompany it:

Arrow shafts:
DC 2 (was 10)
Required Crafting Points: 1
Material Requirements: 1 Softwood (was 3) Save the forests!
End Product: 2 Arrow shafts

Bundle of Bronze Arrows/Bolts
DC 4 (was 1)
Required Crafting Points: 10 (was 1)
Material Requirements: 1 Arrow shaft, 1 Tin ore, 1 Copper ore, 2 coal OR 1 Arrow shaft 1 Bronze Ingot.
End Product: 1 Bundle of Bronze Arrows/Bolts

Bundle of Iron Arrows/Bolts
DC 10 (was 17)
Required Crafting Points: 11 (was 5)
Material Requirements: 1 Arrow shaft, 2 Iron ore, 4 coal OR 1 Arrow shaft, 1 Iron Ingot.
End Product: 1 Bundle of Iron Arrows/Bolts

Bundle of Steel Arrows/Bolts
DC 16 (was 19)
Required Crafting Points: 12 (was 19)
Material Requirements: 1 Arrow shaft, 2 Iron ore, 6 coal OR 1 Arrow shaft, 1 Steel Ingot.
End Product: 1 Bundle of Steel Arrows/Bolts

Bundle of Damask Arrows/Bolts
DC 25
Required Crafting Points: 14 (was 84)
Material Requirements: 1 Arrow shaft, 4 Iron ore, 10 coal OR 1 Arrow shaft, 1 Steel Ingot, 1 Iron Ingot.
End Product: 1 Bundle of Damask Arrows/Bolts

Summary: Some quality of life changes that should make playing a ranged character, other than an Archer path Ranger, slightly more enjoyable. Not only does it save on weight (making a single bronze bundle takes 60lbs of carry weight) it also allows carpenters and smiths to earn a small income selling the bundles or ingots needed to make them while allowing self-reliant characters to potentially take half another profession.
The DC's and Required Crafting Points are balanced against melee weapons and the amount of resources required to forge each ingot, the only one that really stood out was the Damask. 84 CP or five hours of waiting to make something that'll be expended with an hour's worth of playtime seemed a tad excessive, though I could see the CP being raised to 35 if the team wished to keep their production to 1 bundle per crafting cycle.
