Dangerous Animals, Animal Empathy and Totems

With the new system where animals are not immediately hostile, can totem Druids/Rangers be made to auto-succeed the Empathy check to keep them not hostile if it is of the same type? Even if they don't have ranks in Animal Empathy.

Ie, bear Totem Druids/Rangers auto pass the empathy check for bears. But not anything else.
