How about letting epic focus characters make a focus stone for a destination they want to use other than a portal. I played on a server the use clairvoyance/clairvoyance to mark a stone with a destination. Then you use the spell to teleport and pick portal or stone. Once you make the selection you pick your destination. Also allowing 1 extra pc per 6 caster levels.
Edit. It also used up the focus stone when you teleported to that destination.
