Enervation and Energy Drain

Post by Roketter » Thu May 25, 2017 5:47 pm

From a mechanics standpoint, they are useless. Yes, you can drain 1d4 levels and maybe kill someone once you drain all of their levels, but it does have a save component and there's a ton of lower level or similar level spells that excell at killing much faster, either by direct save-or-die mechanics or draining hitpoints.

You could enhance to have deadlier effects, but then you would just be recreating those other spells.

Proposal:
Make it so every time someone dies from an enervation or energy drain cast, a "Soul fragment" (the ones which give 5 or 3 xp) spawns in the casters inventory. Just for flavor., and possibly making a market for these -unholy- items, which could potentially create tons of rp interactions. Wouldn't be op, since you need several enervation casts to actually kill anything but rats. And if a lvl 30 is around hunting rats with enervations... well that's just how he or she chooses to spend her time lol -and possibly have an addiction problem to fragments-. Maybe a lvl requeriment, victim must be at least lvl 5.
