Overhaul golems

Golem-making is fun. It would be nice to expand forging, art crafting and ??? to make more or better golems, as currently, as I understand, they are not very useful. Creation, maintenance of golems is potentially very fun, and it would be nice if their stats made it actually worthy to spend time and effort making them (either this, or making the process harder, but winding up with something pretty powerful/hard to break).
