Player made books about goblins in the UD

Goblin history: From Golden Age over War to current tribes

This is a far traveled book. It describes many parts of the life of goblins, mostly culture and religion. It mainly focuses on some goblin tribes on the mainland.
Some sages believe that goblins are relatively recent immigrants, having arrived some time after halflings and giants. Goblins themselves hold that they are among the original inhabitants of the world or even the first race that helped to “build” it, though they are not known for having a long racial memory.
In times past, goblins have occasionally maintained kingdoms and built large fortifications in their conquests of the land. The so-called Golden Age of the Goblins is referred to by several sources, including the most famous history books.
A little over a thousand years ago, a great goblin empire stretched throughout what is now known as the Goblin Marches. They raided and conquered far-flung lands but only few forces reached Arelith in these times. Encroachment by an expanding desert on the mainland, however, slowly destroyed the surface goblins' lands.
Their power waned for many centuries until at last starvation and desperation facilitated the rise of the powerful goblin warlord, Izac Uthor. Uthor's forces, two hundred thousand strong, were eventually crushed by the combined might of human, halfling, elf, and dwarven forces. This proved to be the final blow to the goblin mainland kingdoms and they have never risen since – on surface.
Goblins today are a scattered race that scratch out a meager existence in the territories unclaimed by other races or serve as slaves to those more powerful than themselves. Yet still they are among the most numerous sentient beings. In marshes and swamps, foothills and mountains, and even the Underdark their numbers are plentiful.
They tend to be wicked and petty, although not universally so. Notable exceptions include the 27 goblins who reside in a temple oasis in a desert. These creatures were taken in after being chased from their home in the mountains by dwarves but soon learned pacifism from the priests' example. Similar situation occurred with other famous goblins that acknowledged great kindness.
The Goblin tongue has been described as a "guttural language of grunts and whimpers", sounding like “squeaking and croaking", and “the retching and hacking of a plague-wracked human.” One human characterized it as a noise “like a cat getting sick."
It seems odd that such a widely scattered, illiterate, short-lived race could maintain a single coherent language. Goblin language’s many dialects do indeed differ vastly from one another. But they also are mutually comprehensible.
For names, goblins tend to use a term that translates as “hey you!” unless otherwise needed. Nearly one out of every five goblin proper names starts with the letter g, which is a shortcut for goblin. O’s are used to stress a word. Goblins seem to have an obsession with fangs – over 13% of the tribes listed refer to teeth.
Examples of two lager goblin tribes on the mainland:
The goblin clan Batiri: The Batiri live in matriarchal clans of 25 to 200 members which hunt and travel at night. Tribes maintain totems around their settlements that raise the alarm when a village is in danger. Batiri believe that dinosaurs or other gigantic beasts are the representatives of their gods and each tribe chooses a particular species to venerate. Khurgorbaeyag, called 'Kuro' by the Batiri, is also worshipped heavily. The Batiri are relentless trackers and are skilled in the use of short bows and spears. The more powerful Batiri generals wear crude dinosaur-hide and animal skin armor. They eat those they capture, except other Batiri. Batiri can have green skin as well as other more typical goblin coloration. They speak their own language which is different from, but related to, the Goblin tongue.
The goblin clan Zakhara: Goblins of Zakhara live in large compounds that house large extended families and practice ancestor worship. Most Zakhara goblins' skin is bright green, but variants with yellow, red and blue also occur. Zakhara have a great affinity for gadgets, especially explosives. They create and use odd devices such as flame-throwers, repeating crossbows, and balloons.

About Deities – Vol. III Non-civilized races – Nr. IV: Goblin deities, mythology and cosmology

This very recently printed tin book is one part of the famous compendium “About deities”. Particularly the volume III “Non-civilized races” is a comprehensive collection of common and scientific knowledge and represents the state of the art of the research on “monster” deities. This particular book here is about goblin deities. (Here a short summary:)
Goblin Deities: (most commonly known)
Maglubiyet is the paranoid and covetous head of the goblin pantheon. He incites his followers to make war on other races, especially dwarves and gnomes. As the primary deity of millions of worshippers on the mainland alone, he is afforded the status of greater god. To prevent potential usurpers from arising within his own ranks, he maintains constant watch on the other goblinoid deites and limits their power. Due to some great service he provided to worgs in the past, he is also responsible for the close alliance between the wolves and goblins. He appears as a huge black-skinned goblin with flaming eyes and his unholy symbol is a bloody axe.
Khurgorbaeyag is the patron god of goblins, subordinate only to Maglubiyet. His portfolio includes slavery and oppression of other races so that goblins can focus their attention on war. He appears as a tall, flame-red goblin with orange and yellow scales. His symbol is a red and yellow striped whip. He is known as Kuro to the Batiri and his manifestations often involve the forms of dinosaurs.
Bargrivyek is a lesser god devoted to the expansion of goblin territories. He strives to moderate conflicts within tribes so that goblins can direct their aggression outward. He appears as a large, calm goblin with a domed forehead and carries the unholy symbol of his faith, a white-tipped flail.
The Iron One is the semi-mythical first ruler of Grodd and is worshipped by the inhabitants of that demiplane. He is either a minor god in the goblin pantheon (perhaps demigod level as his priesthood are all adepts) or is an aspect of one of the other goblin gods. The wearer of the Iron Crown of Grodd is considered to be the mouthpiece for the Iron One.

Goblin Mythology:
Goblins believe that in the beginning, the world rebelled against the old gods. A war ensued in which the gods killed the world. From the blood of the gods, maggots were born who burrowed into the corpse of the world. In the darkness, the maggots feasted and celebrated the victory of the gods.
When the forces of light arrived, a sun was born in the sky that burned the eyes of the maggots. The maggots’ cries of pain were heard by the old gods. Angry at the light for hurting his children, one of the old gods (maybe Maglubiyet) transformed the maggots into goblins. He told the goblins that the forces of light owed them a debt and that they were always to remember the times of darkness when the gods of old ruled victorious.
Goblins consider themselves the first born, spawned from the very blood of the old gods. They believe that other races owe the goblins a debt for ancient wrongs.

Goblin Cosmology:
The goblin gods reside on the rusted battlefields of Clangor. The plane is a landscape of iron under blood red skies where goblin petitioners fight to the death and then rise each sunset fully restored. Native barghests and fiendish wolves join in the eternal wars. The River of Blood flows across the endless plains of rust and iron, connecting Clangor with other hells. Fiends from these planes find their way to the goblin battlefields to serve as advisors.
Grashmog, a fortress city known as the Heart of Battle, is the seat of Magluibyet’s power. The elite winter wolf-mounted Steelbiters train here and the temples turn out many clerics who advise the goblin generals in matters of war.
The city of Grodd is a hollowed out portion in the center of a demiplane of solid stone. Its origins are unknown. Grodd is difficult to travel to and from with traditional dimensional-hopping magic. At some point over a thousand years ago, the plane became populated with goblins from the Goblin Marches area. Their first great ruler was a mysterious being known as the Iron One. Since that time the goblins were taught and ruled by the elf/red dragon Nalavara who elevated their culture beyond the norm for their race. She gave them knowledge in many practices of more civilized folk as well as a pathological hatred for other civilized races – mostly humans and elfs. Thousands of goblins inhabit the city and they maintain shops, mines, temples, and a well-trained military. They raise skunks, crows, and fungus as food. The goblins have lime-green skin and speak an ancient dialect of Elvish. Due to the demiplane’s close proximity to the Plane of Shadow, the goblins also have a strange affinity for shadow magic. Recently Nalavara was slain. The goblins are now engaged in a power struggle after the death of the dragon.

About culture and races – Vol. III: deities – Deity Oogooboogoo

This is a rare and highly valued volume out of a series of books, written by a far traveled famous but unknown explorer and scientist. Only a few books of this author are copied and distributed, because he never came back from his expeditions. Here some paragraphs of the introduction and main part of this book about the goblin deity Oogooboogoo:
“Nearly no reliable information like scientific literature exists about this goblin deity. Although Oogooboogoo’s power and popularity have grown extremely in the last century – foremost in the depths of the Underdark. Nearly everywhere where goblins live or pass in the Underdark drawings and carvings can be seen that tell about this goblin god and his might. Many goblin shamans report about the very direct connection they have to Oogooboogoo and it seems that this deity has a strong and present focus on the goblin tribes in the Underdark.” …
“Because the unwritten tales change very fast with the natural high growth and death rate of goblins it is no easy task to reconstruct the history of the deity Oogooboogoo. The name Oogooboogoo roughly can be translated in: “Mighty Goblin of all Goblins” – with “o” representing a noise of respect and double “o”s just emphasizing the point, most times used in prayers. So “Oogooboogoo” also means: “Oh mightiest goblin of all goblins we praise you in highest respect!” At this point we can state that Oogooboogoo most likely is not the true name of the deity the goblins in the Underdark tend to pray more and more – it is most likely a ritual name.”…
The author continues his speculations about the history and profile of the goblin deity Oogooboogoo. He copied some cave wall drawings and quoted interview phrases held with old goblin shamans.

About the (player made) deity Oogooboogoo:

See Arelith wiki: http://wiki.arelith.com/Oogooboogoo

Comment of Irongron:
>>
It is no secret among the team that I am personally not fond of either deity, and have ruled out further player made deities finding their way in game.

The goblin deity was added a long time ago, and really sprang up from a lot of other goblin players following the RP of one player. It was definitely an achievement to have done this, but in my own head I always treated it as another faith masquerading as a goblin deity to gain local followers in Arelith - something that does happen in the FR setting. While I was just a player then I had no real objections, but it was only after many years (and almost infinite fixtures) that I began to feel it was maybe enough now.

<<

There is an ongoing rp line about the true nature of Oogooboogoo (UD version of Maglubiyet? A name for the goblin pantheon as a whole? A hidden manipulation tactic of another deity like Lloth or Cyric? Or really a new goblioid (semi-)divine force focused on UD creatures?)

Please join in and shape it!

Further description:

Oogooboogoo is described as a deity for nearly all parts of goblin life – with a big focus on war but not only.
To maintain his monopoly on giving goblin life a sense the religion of Oogooboogoo developed in two parallel directions: “The two sides of Oogooboogoo”
The deity Oogooboogoo’s function is mainly that of a war leader. He inspires and legitimates the evil ways how goblins tend to behave in fights and how they plan conflicts and war. The main goal is to survive. The main focus is on the survival of the clan but it is highly valued if the individual goblin does everything to save his own life. There seems to be no word for “coward” in goblin language. Or its meaning is totally different. The words “proud” and “brave” are connected with a total different behaviour: all acts of survival – mostly hiding, sneaking, running away, striking from behind, killing weak foes, attacking in masses... All this behaviour is highly respected and described by a word that can be translated as “smart”. And the deity Oogooboogoo wants his followers to behave “smart”.
Oogooboogoo occupies another important role too. As a “goblin father” he gives hints and guidelines how goblins should live their life: A goblin should always have a clan. From birth on goblins learn that they will not survive without the help and the comfort of a clan. At this point Oogooboogoo demands that all goblins are demanded to strengthen their clan by growing strong and powerful. No weak individual is to be tolerated in the clan if there is no chance that it will grow stronger. The strength of a goblin is measured by his abilities, skills, physical and cognitive strength, its wealth, social and political ties and wisdom – all means to serve the clan.
The main rule in the religion of Oogooboogoo is survival. Goblins can please Oogooboogoo by showing high skills and much creativity in survival and growth and in bringing destruction and death to all others. Since growth can always seen in relation to others. To weaken others means to grow in power too.

The two sides of Oogooboogoo:

Oogooboogoo as a war leader: (his evil side) tells about goblins ways of “war”
- goboz fight smart – no stupidz
- only attackx weakx
- if opponentz may bez stronger yuz runz
- alwayz try to bez more than otherz: attack wild from all sidez and crush
- if yuz alone: sneak and poke in back or uze trapz

Oogooboogoo as goblin father: (his neutral side) tells about goblins ways of “life”
- a gobo without clan is poor gobo
- if goboz getz strong, clan getz strong – if clan growz, gobo growz
- if goboz iz weak, clan getz weak – yuz no letz clan getz weak!
- so goboz collectz, raidz, lootz, stealz all they getz! Yuz breed and grow in numberz!

Oogooboogoo main rule: Goboz be smartz and uze all trickx to survive! And if good chance yuz crush and grow!

Oogooboogoo monk order

Pag Poww’s way to serve Oogooboogoo (09/2010)

Pag always was a serving goblin. He wandered through the UD to find someone to serve. He heard of Godo the assassin and wanted to learn his style. What he learned was how to serve drow (and developed rogues skills). After a while he found the goblins cave and the deity of Oogooboogoo. He read all carvings on the walls, columns, vases, and statues in the cave and listened to Oboo and others telling about Oogooboogoo.

For Pag being a monk of Oogooboogoo means that he is a close servant and guard of his deity and his hand to fulfill his will – which mostly shamans/ cleric can interpret. But he also meditates to get closer to Oogooboogoo and free his mind of other thoughts.
For Pag Oogooboogoos will is:
1. Build up an goblin empire (ruled by Oogooboogoo) (witch other goblins can do better than Pag)
2. Bring destruction to “life” (surface) and all that stands in the way of goal 1 (Pag tries that)
3. To realize goal 1 – “dark forces” need to be supported: goblins, drow, and members of other UD races that are in power. (Pag loves to serve all of them in that order)
4. All others need to be destroyed (Pag trains to be Oogooboogoos tool of destruction)

To serve Oogooboogoos will:
1. Pag serves goblins and the ones of other UD races who are in power. (Pag never tries to get own power. He even avoids to be in charge. (No one would listen to him anyways.))
2. Pag gives up and frees himself from all earthy and fleshy things: like pride, personal goals, consumption and joy (including sex, alcohol, good food…), search for wealth, power, respect… (drinking only dirty water made Pag immune to disease). He is nearly untouchable by worldly things. In this regard Pag is emotionless and has an un-destroyable self-esteem (maybe a part of higher will save). He carries only items that make him a good tool, a weapon of Oogooboogoo. He invests all his gold into his mission.
3. He trains hard. Enjoys dirty kills and destruction. Even when his own blood drops on the battlefield it is a good sign. He lives for battle. As much death as possible.
4. One part of his training is a ritual to show respect to Oogooboogoo during which Pag hurts himself. His whole body is covered by scars. Pag is nearly immune to pain (what is also partly caused by his naturally much too high adrenaline).
5. He meditates and prays when he has no other orders.

Pag Poww finally became an elite temple guard of Oogooboogoo.
(But this is only the way Pag has dedicated his life to Oogooboogoo. It’s a character concept.)

Goblin (e.g. Oogooboogoo) monk styles: (09/2010)

Pags way is very civilized and strict. It is more the typical: leave all fleshy things behind style. It is true that surviving among a horde of goblins in a dirty cave could get you to learn an own way of survival by relaying only on your body.
The religion of Oogooboogoo adapts different parts of goblin life already; e.g. see the two sides of Oogooboogoo. This could lead to different monk styles that are linked to and supported by goblin life and religion. Most styles will most likely have to do with survival and the “dirty” or “coward” way of goblins. What goblins call ”smart”. But they provided different means / ways: E.g….
“The lonely hurt wrog” - Style: the natural approach – adopts characteristics of animal survival and fighting styles, the loyalty and hierarchy of a pack and so on // pure monks (weaponless) and monk/druids (shapechanging)
“The sneaking shadow” – Style: dirty tricks, sneaking etc., strong relations to shadows and such – sneak attacks, mostly using weapons // pure monks but mostly multiclassed with rogue, assassin, shaddowdancer (maybe even ranger)
“The tool of destruction” – Style: loyal servant and guard, discipline, fulfilling orders of higher monks and shamans/ clerics, “temple guard” // pure monks or multiclassed with fighter or rouge
“The way of wazzam” – Style???: (something about monks that are skilled in magic too) // monk multiclassed with wizard, blackguard and such

Clerics and sorcerers (with monk levels) would be granted the higher ranked title of a “shaman” and not the one of an Oogooboogoo servant (monks).

IG story of Merago – example for Oogooboogoo monk rp: (ancient)

Oogooboogoo, Maglubiyet and Merago

Even before three books about goblins and their culture and deities (written by an human) emerged in the Underdark the clan started to investigate the divine relations of Oogooboogoo! The spirit of the former clan goblin Ugu Nuk gave certain hints we followed. A side effect of this research was the extinction of a surface goblin clan and the capture of the instructions to build a powerful device. It is in the hands of the clan and ready to use now. This device is empowered by Oogooboogoo himself and therefore attracts the interest of all powers inside and around the goblin pantheon. When devils, demons and other powers lured to get their grab on it, Mergago heard the call of Oogooboogoo himself. Chief Oboo advised Merago to follow the call. This was the beginning of a long travel for Merago. – You can read much about it on the three vases of Merago’s travel to Oogooboogoo. The goblins that remained here – the ones with a sense for the soul of the clan – noticed that other powers tried to get hold on the clan and its device. They manipulated Rusmo and Zugx because they were very powerful goblins but had weak fate in Oogooboogoo. When the clan proved superior to the threats of these single goblins the still unknown powers send a demon spider in the form of Merago. It wanted to the clan to weaken the clan and steal the powerful device. But again the coherence of the clan prevailed and the spider demon was defeated. But we did it at the worst time we could have done it! Merago passed the IronOne and was about to reach Oogooboogoos halls! But when I – Bugga Knowz – re-called the defeated spider demon in a cycle of holding and banishing and forced it to give Meragos soul free (assuming it was imprisoned by the demon), it send the body of the real Merago back to our lands. The eyes of Merago were ripped out and his body was broken. But all goblins worked together to get Merago back to shape – including his eyes. He has unbreakable and deep seeing mechanical heavily enchanted golem eyes now. The clan has one of the most faithful and strongest goblin commanders back. On the other side we missed the chance to send a representative of our clan to Oogooboogoo. But the clan will not give up the long search for Oogooboogoo and the truth! Plans already exist to send a second force! The Oogooboogoo clan will prove to Oogooboogoo! Oogooboogoo prevails!

Re: Goblins in Arelith Underdark

Post by nobs3 » Wed Mar 21, 2018 2:46 pm

OLD/ Outdated (former Arelith Wiki content):

Goblin starting point:

You start your carrier as a goblin adventurer next to the big mushroom in the inner cavern of the goblin caves, located inside Urblexis Grond. How you got there is you to decide, but be sure: You are not standing here alone.
Although there is only one NPC (the old shaman Garbagoth) in this cave system, it is roleplayed as inhabited by 300-400 goblins. And for that it is very likely, that you are born in this cave. With reaching the age of 8-10 years you are ready to glance (or be kicked) outside – alone.

The Goblin Caves:

First impressions:

“It smells terrible!” – for every non-goblin. Goblins like their cave: the more or less tasty water puddles, the broken furniture, the trash, the dirt, the vases full of bones and rotting meat, pee and poo here and there, the sweet smell, the noise, the chaos, the close contact to other goblins… home.
Paintings in tar or blood and carvings on the walls, on big stone vases and columns and the uncountable skulls in the cave tell about its history, about culture and every day life, about great exploits and scary stories (e.g. about drows and daemons or daemon-drows) or just that goblin X does not want to share female Y any longer. (These paintings and carvings have a very important function to keep or even increase the cultural knowledge of the tribe – considered the high breeding and also relatively high death rate of goblins.)

Architecture:

Being a well designed goblin cave – which indicates that it is inhabited by a powerful and big tribe – the goblin cave has one main entrance and two lower side openings, as possible escape routes. (Goblins never feel comfortable if there is no backdoor.)
There is one main cave and four lockable side caves. The main cave is divided into two sections. While most of the social life takes part in the front section (eating, sleeping, cooking, playing, fighting, dancing, working…) the backside of the main cave (which is half-filled with water) is a bit more quiet. That’s the place where the old shaman Garbagoth does his alchemistic experiments, where young goblins were taught about rules and religion and where a big blood-sprinkled altar can be found to pray and celebrate clerical and holy rituals.
At the moment the four side caves are in the firm grip of the (player-created) Oogooboogoo Clan. One is used as a separate sleeping, playing and breeding room, the second is a well equipped working room and the third is used for meetings to plan raids and shout or whisper (discuss) about problems. All three rooms are also used as different kinds of storage rooms. And the fourth? No normal goblin knows what is inside. Maybe the clans fastest breeding females?

History:

[See encyclopedia]

Social Life:

The goblin caves are “ruled” by the (player-created) Oogooboogoo Clan, which derived its name from the (also player-created) goblin god Oogooboogoo (see below). “Ruled” means, that there is a chief of the tribe (Oboo) which makes all (but normally rare) and unquestionable decisions and which surrounds the strongest goblin warriors of the breed around him and his “clan commanders” (Smug, Frubbo and old Brool) and grants them the status of “clan members” by giving them “medals”. These special members of the tribe are supposed to organize and defend the caves, to arrange raid parties, to collect information, to watch the clan grows in number, wealth and power.
The clan just organizes, defends and represents the caves and the goblins inside. There are many goblins (most of the imagined and real NPCs of cause) that are no “clan members”.
New goblin players don’t need to join this player-created clan, but it can help you a lot and can give you much fun and rp-opportunities.

First Aid for Starting Players:

- talk to Garbagoth
- read the columns
- talk to other goblins and stick together
- try to spend some time in the cave (to meet other goblins)

- hunt bats in the bat cave in Grond and sell the meat

RP-Tips:

The main goal of a goblin is to survive. (Certainly followed by other very important goals like to grow rich and powerful and to be a clan leader some day to get the fastest breeding females…)
All you do to survive (and gaining as much profit meanwhile) is “SMART”!
Being “smart” is the same as being “proud” for an orog e.g.
To run from battle at the slightest chance that it could be lost: is smart. To lie, to hide, to play tricks – to be a coward – and most of all to obey to stronger ones: is smart.
That does not mean that a goblin accepts everything that is done with him. But he REALLY would feel no big grief in situations, where someone forces him to do something he doesn’t like. Maybe he would even smile, because he loves to think about all the nice ways how he can pay all back. Because he is smart.
Evil tricks are smart. Kill a sleeping human child and get away save is smart (because if it grows it could represent real danger).
All his life worked like this. He was educated like this. He is regarded like this. (Even the best breeding females prefer the “smart” cowards much more than the fast dieing stupid (brave) goblins.)
Most goblins would do very much, that would hurt a humans ego hard, just for some coins, because their self-esteem is not build upon the same concept of pride. Why not obey, if it does not physically hurt (much) and you can gain something material?

And bow to drow is as an important example…

Last but not least the word maggot is a word of honour for goblins because they believe that the blood drops of fallen gods developed into maggots that formed Toril and that the goblins are the descendants of these maggots. (So Toril belongs to the goblins.)

a bit of a concept of to deepen the oogooboooo...

Oogooboogoo Incarnations

Deity: Oogooboogoo
Divine Rank: Lesser Deity Title(s)
----------
ASPECTS
Aspects of Oogooboogoo: These are the faces, patrons of the same god entity Oogooboogoo, to help the connection for the goblins to chose a Patron to their mission.

"The Eater in The Dark" (Ranger's, Hunter's Patron)
When a goblin hunting party is need help, they draw great paintings of beasts and the wished preys, do a hunting dance around them and after they burns the pictures in sacralic fire, the whole led by one shaman.

“The Great Kivvil Eater” (Warparty's Patron)
When a goblin warparty is formed to hunt on the surface, great preparations have been made to ensure and ask Blessings of the Great Kivvil Eater, Oogoobogoo. The Grandshaman calls the Chieftan, the First Warrior and all the goblin Heroz to capture the biggest beast they can and sacrifice to Oogooboogoo.

“The Glorious Goblin” (Craftgob's Patron)
When goblins arent fight for mere survival, they can craft, (re)build and spread their culturalism. They do it in the name of Mighty Oogoobogoo, and place goblins nests, flags, vases and statues in his name. Statues and Monoliths are built to show his might and glory.

“The Dreaded Father” (Every goblin's Patron)
Goblin life is hard, and all hatred against goblins is carved into all other race's blood, mind and soul. This pain and sorrow is the melt iron which clamped into strong steel by Oogooboogoo's Faith in the shape of Dreaded Father. The Dreaded Father gives vision to Clan gobos of total exctinction which is far more worse than any other outcome in the Dark can offer. This fear as lonely or small group gobos die and gone converts the them into a formidable force as Clan of Oogooboogoo. When goblins are shown in great number to shows their presence is the sacrifice for this aspect.

“The Terrifying Goblin Leader” (Clan goblin's Patron)
When goblins are forms a group, they choose one or two leaders to give them directions. These are honored or feared leader who lead Clan on the Paths. Chieftains and Chiefessess are the voice of the Oogoobogoo's will, supported by the Visions of the Grandshamans and guidance of their Dreams. Dreams which sent by Oogoobogoo himself to show path and give goals to the Clan. Chieftains are accepted by the whole Clan, but there can be discussions over their actions and divine decisions. Tiny gifts for the Chieftains and gobo leaders, are the sacrifices for the Terryfying Goblin Leader.

"The Vengeful Maggot" (Exile goblin's Patron)
When goblins have very hard times, and many gobohaters unite against them, jeaolus of their rich, and feared of their numbers, they unite for a short time to exile the goblins from their Home. These desprate times when goblins calls the Vengeful Maggot to help them through this period and keep them and Clan alive. Sooner than later these gobohaters are washed away the tides of chaotic life of Underdark, and they will be no more than a hieroglyph in Gobo History. Those who dont waits, than acts also ask this patron for help. Every gobohater's dead body is great please for the Vengeful Maggot.

“Cave for goboz only! Main cave for all goboz. Side cavez all ruled and shared by the powerful Oogooboogoo Clan. Chief of clan iz mighty Oboo! Wez follow wordz of Oboo and commanderz. Goboz help goboz! Clan helpz goboz grow! Goboz getz stronger, clan growz!”

2. “prayz”:
“Oogooboogoo Clan [mainly] prayz to greatest gobo god Oogooboogoo! Oogooboogooz wayz of goboz life: A gobo without clan is poor gobo! If goboz getz strong, clan getz strong and if clan growz, gobo growz! If goboz iz weak, clan getz weak and yuz no letz clan getz weak! So goboz collectz, raidz, lootz, stealz all they getz! Yuz breed and grow in numberz!”

3. “politix”:
“Goboz rule thiz cave. Noz other law here! If yuz seez noz-goboz in cave: threat them outz! If noz goez: kill itz! But goboz noz bringx clan in troublez! Wez noz kill in Grondz, cauze Grondz important for clanz safety and security of cavez and for buzinezz. Wez noz bez friendz to kivvilz, cauze kivvilz are noz to trust, they promize much and at end wantz tell uz whatz to doez and whatz noz!”
There also is a stone vase with several paintings of Oogooboogoo Clan symbols: Big Os drawn with human and elven teeth, often a mace or a dagger is situated in the middle. Followed by the same Os made up by groups of goblins surrounding different foes.

4. "homez":
"All n' Any timez the Clan must keepz at least one homeplace on independenz locationz, where no Tyrant, Matron or drizztrick Concellor can takez away on forged accuzations. Goboz muzt be Smart and keepz thiz rule best when Gobo Haterz raise."

Saw a group of four goblin tribal barbarians a while back that resulted in a horde of 12 goblins. Looked awesome, haven't seen them since though.

Think default for goblins should be controlling 3 characters instead of 1 but with reduced stats or something.

I currently have a stashed LE Hobgoblin. Since I've nary an idea on how I should RP him, any pointers or resources I can go to? Especially one that might help the set up for Arelith specifically. How their interaction with Drow or other UD denizens (at Andunor) usually plays out, the dynamics with the Goblinoid cousins, and any behavioural quirks or lack thereof would be great.

Its a hard one, since there are no stict rules how to rp with anyone, especially the new UD. Technicly you can RP as you want as golden rule. Drow is just one of the rest of the races around with humans, gnolls, orogs..etc. So i think your hobgoblin can be same as any orog or duergar around, mostly not change anything at all , what is your race nowadays. No specific lore base to Andunor, maybe you can look around Skullport stuff to find any existing example for this kind of community.

Andunor is kind of Undercordor in the UD, almost same level civilised and rped so... thats you should build in your characters rp.

Not as prevalent as they used to be, but still around. A few have moved up to Sencliff.

Well technicly the goblins are not so.. abundant as they were before. So it wont be easy to find partners (and the enormus bonuses) of goblins around. I play actively on Sencliff with my goblin and there are, as you said maximum 3-4 active goblin in andercordor.

Andercordor, that is the best way I've seen that done, especially with all the humans there.

But I feel you on its hard to find other goblins to run with, the three or four goblins in Andercordor all seem to hate each other or turn each other against each other. Might have to make my way to Sencliff as soon as I get the level too.
