I totally forgot that Guldorand has valleys. It's where all their forests grow. Generally, as a rule of thumb in the Crags, if you can't see what's at the bottom of the cliff? It's trees. A lot of them. Even that massive bridge past Glorag Mur? That's a massive forest below you, not water. All of the areas bordered by solid forest? Those trees stretch for quite a distance. Currently there are no transitions behind the lumber mill or slopes down into these valleys and forests, so it's safe to assume the Crags area is at least 50% bigger than what the current maps show.
They'd probably farm in those valleys. Fertile valleys with long, narrow farms.
And that's a good point about the dwarves, Intrepid42. It is a magical world, not a far-fetched idea that there are fantasy foods involved somewhere. Even Lord of the Rings had types of food that were magical in nature.
