Post by Amineh123 » Mon Mar 27, 2017 12:21 pm

What are the Wands and Scrolls cost of gold and exp per spell level? Does anyone have a chart of some sort?

That information is not accurate for Arelith. The gold and xp cost has been reduced. There's an explanation somewhere but I can't think of where it is right now.

I Never Knew That Was a Thing (TM).

I'll write it somewhere, later.

I think he meant spell level.

No, certain wands have certain spell levels - take for example, a silence wand always has a CL of 3, which affects its duration. It's on the wiki page Iceborn linked before, under the "caster level" column.

gilescory is right. The wand I used to test with just happen to work out properly using the caster level or the spell level. My mistake.

How do you know what spells are at what level. I've seen Bulls for example at 3 and 15, do you have to be atleast 15th level wizard to make the 15 level wands and potions?

Potions made via Brew Potion are always at the same caster level, and follow the one list not linked by Iceborn above (here). You'll sometimes find potions at a different level than the ones listed there, but they were not made by Brew Potion.

Same story for Craft Wand--they are always the same caster level, and again, they follow the list linked by Iceborn (this one). Scrolls are the same (scrolls link so you don't have to scroll back up to Iceborn's post).

I actually wonder one thing now.
Manticore got the Craft Wand values - but Potion and Scroll have been lowered as well?
I don't care much for the specific details since the cost of the two is more or less negligible.

The gold cost for the scrolls look changed. The XP for the ones I have documented looks correct.

If people just post a few gp/xp costs for a few different scrolls it should be easy to determine.

Is cost dependent on number of charges produced or is it a per wand expense no matter how many changes?

The number of charges is not part of the formula at all--a 50-charge wand and a 2-charge wand would have the same cost.

It's not really related to crafting costs, but does anyone know if the DC formula for wands has been changed on the server? According to nwn wiki talk (http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Difficul ... skin=oasis) the DC is a plain 13+innate spell level (0-4) not including any bonuses or caster ability bonus. Can anyone confirm if it is the same on Arelith?

Doesn't it make a whole range of wands useless on certain level? According to my observation even fighter-type melee mobs of levels 15 and above have around 15 will save, making them virtually immune to any will save spells possible on wands. Same applies to fortitude and reflex saves. This leaves only buffs and a few other wands worth crafting and using. Is that right or am I missing something?

You're right! You shouldn't rely on wands that force a save, except against fairly weak enemies.

That's dissapointing, but I guess there's nothing to be done. I've considered wands to be a nice addition for a mage forced to rest when he runs out of spells, that allowed him to last longer. Such a shame, that many nice spells for wands are being left unused...
