Undead Summons

Post by furryn » Sun Jul 26, 2015 12:26 pm

I something recurring in the undead update discussion thread was "Zombie and vampire" - "lines" for flavour.

What does this mean? How do i summon one instead of the other?

How do i know? Well, obviously because I'm not stupid.

You do something at designated spots in game. Sadly, this information is FOIG I am told. I have yet to figure it out for myself.

It indeed FOIG.

The hint is that you perform a certain ritual at certain places in the game. If you are looking out for them they are reasonably obvious (and reasonably easy to find). Working the ritual out may take you longer.

I had honestly lost most of my faith in this update. But it was just revived. Thank you :)

Being able to summon Vampires was always a personal favourite of mine.

Is epic spell focus necromancy really not available to epic pm's (level 11+)?

It says you need to be able to cast level 9 spells, but if you have a bard pm, as I do, your epic pm will never be able to summon the level appropriate tier, if I understand this correctly.

Is there any way you can make epic spell focus: necromancy available to epic pm's, Mith?

Thanks for throwing the undead summoners a bone, I've been looking forward to this! :)

Actually, its possible for an epic PM to get epic spell focus. But you need 15 levels, sadly. I would also like to see it possible for them to get Mummy dust as well. :)

You need to be able to cast level 9 spells. Bard/PMs are sad.

PMs can get EPIC spells at level 15, so can summon the 4th tier of undead, but since bards never get level 9 spells they can't get Epic Spell Focus and so will only be able to have two undead minions at a time. Alas.

It makes no sense for epic pms not to be able to get epic spell focus in necromancy... Can you change it, Mith?

If you want your PM to be better at raising and controlling undead creatures, go wiz/PM and be worse at melee. If you want your PM to be better at melee combat, go bard/PM and be worse at raising and controlling undead creatures.

It's a good balance, especially in light of the possibility of being a Favoured Soul/PM, who would be able to keep up the bard's amazing melee buffs full-time.

4 levels of bard or wizard won't make much of a difference. A level 20 pm ought to be able to at least keep up with a wizard in his chosen and very narrow field of expertise

If they are a wizard/PM, sure. A bard focuses less on spellcasting and more on melee capabilities though, so they won't be as good.

I don't plan to change this. Not even sure it's possible without breaking it for other classes (the configuration is in 2da files and is global).

I believe it is, sadly.

You -can- tag epic spells to new classes, simply by tagging them onto the prerequisite list, but actual foci are gonna have to sit this one out.

It might be possible to administer the feat manually on request, much as dragons get Armor skin; but that's complicated.

Can your scripts be altered so that a level 15+ PM with GSF: necromancy can summon 3 undead whether or not they have ESF: necromancy? I don't think it's necessary to give the bard/PM more cookies than they already have, but that might be a way to do it if it was desired.

So, I had my cleric necromanceries, using animate dead to make for a decent undead fellowship of Skeleton Chieftains. Since the updates, all I can get is one Zombie and that's it.

I have GSF: Necromancy and the Death Domain Powers

Is that really all I can pull off with that guy?

You can no longer use one undead spell to produce multiple undead--as a cleric, you need to first cast Animate Dead and then cast Create Undead to get your second one.

To get to level 11?

You can also accomplish it by using a scroll of Create Undead (if you can find a cleric who can/will create that scroll for you).

Just to clarify; you need multiple sources of a means to summon undead in order to have more than one?
