Which place would have this kind of accent..?
"Well hey there, lil' darlin'."
"Oh, but I do declare, darlin'."
"You ain't got nothin' on me, lil' miss."
Just wondering.

Are you trying to go for an old southern United States gentleman's accent?
I don't think there is an equivalent in FR
I could be wrong

That would be a Southern American accent. I don't think that there's a place in Faerun that has that particular accent. FR lore seems to mostly be drawn from ancient/medieval cultures, and that's an accent which has only been around for a few hundred years.

So would it be frowned upon to make a character with said accent, seeming as it isn't really supported by FR?

Probably not frowned upon, but you might get some funny looks.

A tiny part of me is tempted to make a character called 'The Colonel', who roasts elves using the fireball spell and sells them to Underdarkers.

I don't think that's what Charlie Daniels meant.

Re: Which place would have this kind of accent..?
I think old anglosaxon speakers could been use that kind of dialect.
The Old English was a popular use of the languaje (in the middle age) and the lower social clases wouldn't really be using a high way of that tongue, that was created in that nest.
Old English was feed with Anglo-Saxon basis and influences from Old Latin (Loross) and French (French is a romanic tongue, dialect coming from Old Latin too) There could be more influences too as Danish (they ruled by a century Englad and Ireland under their Danelaw...)
Ofcourse, I could be wrong, but this is what I have from what I studied about tongues.

I dont think it would inversely affect your RPR. We have people who use lots of different methods of talking. I have know people with high RPRs who have used the "thy, thou, thine" method of talking and those who have talked completely casual.
I would just not make references to technologies that were around in the old south but not in Faerun.

Now, one more question. This accent is not supported, I know. But if there was a place it had to belong to, which one would it be? I was thinking of playing a 'sophisticated' crime-lord who reeks in creepiness.

Waterdeep is a giant city with a little bit of everything. There is probably someone there with an odd accent.

Have fun with your accent choice.
As long as your accent isn't the cringing "Yo dawg gurl!" or some cringing equivalent that is just disturbing.

I think this is the best way to approach it. In real world terms it could represent the accent of a cultural melting pot, like New Orleans. New Orleans might well equate to Waterdeep.Jeloran wrote:Waterdeep is a giant city with a little bit of everything. There is probably someone there with an odd accent.
