new player--can i have a farm and plant seeds?
Hi, I have a lv 5 Druid that cannot decide on crafting path (Herblism fits but art crafting got a unique helmet)
however I saw seeds as a optional product, but have not seen lands around skal. is it possible in the future to plant and harvest herbs? if so, where and when (character lv) can I find farm lands?

There is not much (but a little) fertile land in Skal, but a lot on the mainland.
There are various public planting areas dotted around, mainly near or within settlements, as well as some locations in the wild. When you find such an area you receive a message 'This looks like fertile ground for planting'
Each such area has a maximum limit for the amount of plants (generally depending on size), and not all plants will grow in the same place, or rather the 'upper end' plants - Harnak, Lady's Tear, King's Crown' generally require 'special' ground. If you plant something that does not grow in that soil, it has a 'wilting' message attached.
The best planting ground is often in private land, such as the Farmhouse in Bendir Riverbank. If one is lucky enough to own such a property, then farming is considerably easier.

thank you, seems quite complicated... guess I shall leave Skal after lv 10 or something, depends on the quest I receive.
Just wondering, how are the merchants in the mainland? the ones in Skal hardly buys anything, that is super annoying

Many of the settlements on the main island have peddlers which buy just about anything.

If you use the radial menu there is a menu for "emotes" at the very top left. Cycle through those for various ones like Hello and Goodbye. You can also Press "v" and use various hotkeys to trigger them. Lastly you can just type "/emote sit" for example and your character will sit. So you can also perform the emotes that way.

Glad I could help! There's actually even a fourth option, specifically for non-vanilla emotes, which is to hit the rest menu, go into character, select emotes, and then select what you want from the list, but the "/emote command" way is much faster.

Try -sit then.

Immediately after finding out about /emote sit last night, I excitedly told my friend about it, only for them to tell me they just use -sit. When I said I didn't know that was a thing, either, and I always used the rest menu, they laughed at me cruelly
My ego is shattered, but my world is changed. My characters are going to be using -fall to trip over rocks all the time.

Just a comment on crafting path. If you want to go herbalism, dont second guess yourself because of 1 or 2 craftable items in another path.
You can always have someone else make that for you.

Most of all the fields have already been planted fully to the max limit for that area by previous players . You'll find everything you need for the budding herbalist in large quantities in or near most of the settlements. Taking the Herbalist crafting part just for the seeds is not worth it. The poisons are also pretty lackluster.
That doesnt mean its not a good craft to have though. Being able to make your own +3 +6 and +10 heal kits and Heal potions saves you on ton of money in the long run. On that same note most herbalists also double in Alchemy to make their own essences to have most of the consumable products covered for all your dungeon crawling needs.
34 Herbalism/22 Alchemy and 1 point in each of the other crafts is a pretty common a decent spread for a specialised Herbalist.
Being Herbalist is a resource heavy craft, you'll likely spend some time traveling around and farming all the ingredients from various locations regularly. You'll also likely need some storage space in a citizen's vault or quarter chest, because of the weight/inventory space.
The major settlements like Cordor , Brogdenstein, Bendir Dale, Myon and Guldorand have a Settlement trade system called the Expanded Warehouse. Items like granite, cloth, meat, hides, raw gems, herbs, wood, rock chunks and similar crafting materials can be sold there for some coins, or even bought (for a higher price) if you just need that specific item to craft something. Various Peddlers around the Island also buy many things you'll find as loot, although some more then others. Skal is very different in that regard, great for gathering resources and loot galore but your pretty much stuck with most things you pick up.
As far as emotes go i know that quite a few players use their most often typed line as a custom text macro in the hotbar. like *Waves towards the passing traveller* or *Salutes in a military fashion* or *Bringes clenched fist to his chest*. Just right click on a free slot and you'll see custom text as an option in the radial menu. type the emote and assign it to the slot and you'll never have to type it again, just bring it up with one mouse-click or F1-12 key.
hope this helps,

Re: new player--can i have a farm and plant seeds?
Emotes like *waves to a passing traveler* are done just by typing them in the talk field manually. Rhavin is saying you can make hotbar commands out of the talk function with "create emote." Words that are enclosed in asterisks (**) or brackets ([]) will appear in English/Common even to people who do not understand the language you are speaking, asterisks will be visible and brackets will not (except in Common).
The model motions for them, without talking, are all accessible as console commands or through the V menu that Rogue mentioned, and there are also pre-scripted emotes with spoken Talks attached, they're even voice-acted, but those choose from a small list randomly, so they're not always fitting, like, if you use the goodbye one as you're stomping off in a huff from your enemy, you'll wave, but your character might say "Hope I see you later!" very loudly in a very cheerful and friendly voice, so use with caution.
