What does -balance do?

I know it balances an animal population, but what does that mean?

I believe that if an area is not well traveled, and the spawns within an area are not regularly killed, then the monster spawn population grows and grows, until it can even spill into 'civilised' areas. By typing -balence you can tell if the population of hostile monsters is spiraling out of controle, due to not being killed enough by wandering adventurers.
This too shall pass.

(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

Actually :) -track tells you if something’s oit of control
-balance is a druid tool that allows you to shift the population balance.

From the wiki:
-balance
Alters the population. For druids only.
Use: -balance
May be used once per rest to regulate the balance of an area.
