Heard you can colorarmor parts individually....

How? I've checked the wiki and nothing there describes it.

Open up the rest menu and choose option 4, appearance, then choose an armor part. By default, all colors on all armor parts are set to 255, which causes the part to be colored based on the overall color setting.

You can ONLY color individual armor parts through the rest menu, not though the radial crafting menu.
