Containers and Pickpocket

Can containers like bags and pouches be pickpocket'd?

I'm pretty sure only 1-2 slot items can, thus only gem bags

DMs have said gem pouch is on a list of things that can’t be pickpocketed, even though just 1-2 slots.

Meaning that, like keys, you'd pick it up, and it would be immediately put back in their inventory.

Is this something we know for 100% certain? I've been dividing gem stacks for a long time and it's a nightmare. I'm terrified to put all my eggs in the same basket.
