Releveling and spellbooks.

Post by Hazard » Sat Oct 27, 2018 5:53 pm

If for example you are a wizard who added spells via scroll to their spellbook at level 30, and you de-level to 29 to redistribute skills or something, will you lose knowledge of the spells?

There have been many mechanical changes and I'd like to see if I can adapt to them, but I'd hate to have to go around collecting a bunch of spells again!

Thanks.

IIRC, you would keep knowledge of the ones you added via scrolls, but lose the ones that got through leveling up, though you'd be able to retake those upon leveling up again.

Bear in mind that repeatedly leveling, scribing scrolls, and then deleveling and adding them to your spellbook in order to fill it out solo is considered an exploit.

Thanks, it will be the first relevel I've ever done. Spellbook has been complete for over 1 RL year.

It's one of those things that warrant a script that checks if the scroll has been scribed by the same player (akin to the anti-muling script) and simply denies the character the scribing, otherwise I foresee a pain for the DMs to go through logs just to catch anyone doing this.

Honestly, it's one of those things where I wouldn't even care if someone was doing it. Most players will avoid doing it, and end up making IC contacts as a result, which is good. If someone gets noticed by a DM and spanked, I'll point and laugh from a distance. Otherwise, I'd rather the devs/contributors spent their time on more important things.

I had a rebuild from 14 to 4 or 5. Now my guy is currently 16.
Reason? Swaped maximize spell to still.
