Poisons - worth it?
Namely for BG - Are they worth the investment or is one generally just better off with an extra 1d6 damage of some sort?

Yes, especially on races that again use poison at early levels. They also stack with essence so you can choose both.

So to be clear you can have Weapon + Perm Essences + Temp Essence + Poison?

I don't remember the DCs, but there are some nasty poison in the game that can really ruin someone else's day in a PvP fight.

There are poisons that stun for a long duration, which is a death/pray sentence if it goes off. But with most potions you fish for 1s.

They'd be more worth it if you could use them on bludgeoning weapons!!!

If I remember correctly, the stock NWN posions are utter tosh and 100% not worth bothering with, but several of the Arelith specific potions are entirely worth investing in.

There are a few that are tremendously useful, namely the deadly animal poisons. Poisons are good for selling if nothing else... some of them are worth tens of thousands.

You can't sell anything to NPCs for more than a few hundred coins, and any PC who needs them enough to spend that kind of gold on them will have taken the appropriate crafting skills to make them.

I look forward to seeing the poison meta develop some weird builds as people see how OP some of the poisons are.
