you can toggle your helmet on off and it will be fixed yeah.

Exactly. Never denied that, yet I'm a proponent. Barkskin though, see no point in knowing it is on me or any other (N)PC, and it is the ugliest of the -skin effects by far. I asked Beamdog during the last Twitch blog if shaders can be used to improve -skins, the answer is yes. Maybe we will see some less intrusive but still visible enough effects one day.

Yes, or other measures as proposed. But that is still not the intended way for it to function, I believe. Just like "fix the missing shoulders using relog" (this one is worse and is 100% on Beamdog, I agree). I reckon given the amount of answers, the issue is known to the devs though.
