Why has -delete_character been disabled?

See the title. Every time I try to use the command, the server sends me a message saying that the command has been disabled. In fact, all modes of deleting a character appear to be blocked now. When I couldn't use the command on one of my old characters, I took them out to get killed and lose their last MoD life. But after I logged back in, the character was still there in my vault, and playable. So... doesn't this mean that there are currently no mechanical downsides to having a Mark of Destiny? And doesn't this also mean that it's impossible to roll a character to receive a reward?

If it's disabled, it's likely due to a bug and to be reinstated soon, or it's being updated.
