Hmm.

In order of offensive strength, the elementals go Fire > Earth > Water > Air.

Earth certainly does not kill slower.

Water was intended to be the all-rounder (with sustain), so falls lower on the offensive spectrum. Which isn't to say it's not a bit overtuned.

Remove the aura from ancient one, keep regen, but also add small regeneration (around 4 HPs a round) to all other elementals so sustaining them is easier.

Off topic, I know. But it irks me that elementals are the only viable long-term summons beyond the teen levels.

The planar binding/ally summons woefully underperform. Would love more opportunities for thematic summons.

I liked it before the elemental changes that were put in, where the earth elemental lumbered along at walking speed but anything in reach was smashed to oblivion, it also seemed to resist more damage back then too.

Also the 100% fire immunity is a massive deal, since the most common damage type in the game used by mobs is fire (that meteor one, dragons breath, fire shields, fire weapons... etc), being completely immune to that is actually better than having almost any amount of damage resistance.

I am sad that shadows is not an alternative. Not sure why they only last rounds / level.

They are more a situational debuff. Would be nice if they did not unsommon other summons as they don’t really fill that role

If anyone would kindly tell me when this situational debuff is actually useful I would use it more often IC. Right now I'm better off slotting mass hastes like a good wizard.

Planar summons could do well, if They were'nt lasting so shortly and would get something equal to ancient elementals for epic conjurers.

I believe the issue is, [And I'm sure Peppermint has mentioned this before] is that we have different 'Styles' of Summons, Undead, Planar Creatures, Shadows, Dragons, and Elementals, and we as players would like to be able to choose the 'style' that best suits us/our character.

Unfortunately, mechanically the spells just arn't equal. Elementals can be summoned by 9th level spells. Dragons are exclusively an epic spell. Undead are either low level, or an epic spell. Shadows are strictly level 6, and so forth.

Making Shadows mechanically equal to elementals, or Planar creatures equal, for examples, just isn't pratical, because then you're getting a 9th level effect from a 6th level slot.

I'd just like shadows to be useful. They seem to get torn apart by everything level-appropriate for my character, and their short duration is anxiety-inducing.
