I won't be able to connect for 8-9 days, so I need to do something in order not to lose my quarter.
The question:
If I gave a key to someone to "water the plants" while I'm out, would that trigger the script and "refresh" the quarter?

Sorry you will likely lose the property. Only you can refresh it.

It's best to exchange the quarter to another character, one you're wiling to share it with in exchange for space? That would be your best arrangement, and quarters are greatest when shared and used by more than one person.

In fact, I was planning to create a new faction so...It's best to exchange the quarter to another character, one you're wiling to share it with in exchange for space?
1) If I shared my quarter with the other members, could them refresh the quarter, or would I still need to do it myself?
2) Does a shop work in the same way? (I have a similar problem with my shop).

In both cases, you need to refresh the properties in question personally by interacting with them with your PC. Proxies cannot do it for you..
It will cost gold(but you can grind more when you return), but I strongly recommend passing them off to another player in your faction for safekeeping while you are gone. You can get the properties back afterwards from them.

Sharing is not enough. You would need to transfer ownership (sell quarter and shop to the other player).
