Are items inside a crate that is open to the public - inside The Nomad - free for all to take?


I opened a crate, and saw pretty valuable items in it... So I picked them up, four items. But it gave me an alert about stealing, so I put it back immediately!

Im sorry I didnt mean to steal these nice items!

Here is a screenshot of me putting it back. It happened a few minutes ago and I make sure I post here before I get in trouble..

The items are back in the crate and I am leaving it alone.

The stealing message is an automatic one. If I remember correctly that chests are for people sharing itmes? I don't think anyone would mind if you took what you need from them.

If the chest isn't behind a locked door, everything in it is up for grabs. However, you should use good judgement when choosing what you take, and act only as your character would. Sometimes, that means snagging everything, and sometimes it means leaving nice stuff for those who need it more.

Those crates are there, because an old character named Kainda Ogden used to leave goodies there for new adventurers who needed help.

You are the nicest purest cinnamon bun and I definitely probably would have taken everything.

Kainda's Charity Chests, was the name of a sign that was always next to them.
I believe it said something along the lines of "Take what you need, leave what you can".


I do want to get that sign back up there sometime, even if my character wouldn't know about it.
Her legacy should live on, that sign had to have been there for a couple real life years and only vanished semi-recently. (Maybe DMs could make it permanent..? hehe)

It makes me smile to see good natured players like you joining the server.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. That is a nice gesture, that a well-settled character would have a charity thing going on like that. I think when I get max level and can afford all the nice things I would start something like that.. a charity of some sorts.

But as someone pointed out the messages are default, just like anytime you pick up a fixture you get a message.
