Which school do you choose to give up as a spellsword.
I am planning to specialize in Necro so that is out.. what do you give up? Thanks for any input.

On mine I chose to drop Enchantment. There were a few times where I wish I hadn't (needed some Dominate Person scrolls for RP and Mass Haste is a bummer to give up) but overall I was happy with that choice.

I gave up Enchantment, but I've heard that you can still imbue with your forbidden school, so I'd drop Necromancy if that's true. From 0 to 26, I never used Necromancy for anything other than my people-poker, and I really wish I'd had Mass Haste.

I like enchantment. Being able to fight inside your own mind-fog (since you and your party are immune) is really snazzy, not to mention mass haste.

Telling someone who wants to specialize in necromancy to sacrifice necromancy seems a bit, uh...
Anyhow. Enchantment seems to be the way to go. Alternately, if it's true that you can imbue with the forbidden school and you're really dedicated to focusing necromancy, I might seriously consider ditching evocation.

Gave up necro, focused enchantment.
Worked well enough for me.
Transmutation is kinda a must due to animal spells, abjuration will keep you alive, illusion has Shadow Shield and all the invisibility spells.
If necro is there to stay, you can give up enchantment (enchantment is cool, but you can live without it), divination (you can go for detection scores to make up for it), evocation is an option, but I'd be hesitant to play a wizard without the option to blast things away.
Choices, choices~
And yes, it is true you can imbue without having access to the spellschool. I thought it was a bug at first, but it seems to be intended behavior.
I wouldn't rely on it nonetheless. It may change in the future.

I did the same thing and focused on int for high DCs. Confusion/hold spells/mind fog/dominate/etc. were a great way to start a battle, then glide in and tear everything to pieces. Plus more magical RP, which is always a huge plus. And being your own enchanter, which has a ton of perks.Iceborn wrote:Gave up necro, focused enchantment.

I definitely wouldn't make a character focused around being able to imbue with your forbidden school until a Dev told me it was intended, nonchanging behavior.

Gave up Necromancy, would happily give up Enchantment if it suited the roleplay concept. The other four options feel distinctly sub-optimal to sacrifice (due to Premonition, Zoo/Haste, Missile Storms, and Shield/Dispels/Breaches).

Turns out Spellsword apparently does not match well with Pale Master so thank you all for the input. If I ever come up with a spellsword at least now I know. I have been wanting to play out this Pale Master RP for sometime so I am going with a more traditional PM build. Thank you!!!!
