Summons in RP
Is there a way to have you summon speak some sort of dialog?
I know on a few other servers puting a ";" or "," would do it but I don't know if it's even possible on Arelith. It would be cool to have something like this letting people have certain summons talk or take specific actions and not awkwardly come form the Summoner.

There’s not, no.Lord Monologue wrote:Is there a way to have you summon speak some sort of dialog?

-a preceding a line of dialogue will allow a familiar, animal companion, dominated creature (spell or empathy), Epic Illusion, or Shadowdancer shadow (I think that’s all of them) to speak/emote it, but when implementing that the devs decided not to include summons in that - I can only presume intentionally, although I cannot speak to why.

Re: Summons in RP
When -a was first released I asked if it would be applied to barbarian tribesmen too, so you wouldn't have to RP with a group of mute murderhobos following you, and the dev response was that they didn't want people to RP on behalf of any creature that isn't part of their character.
Re: Summons in RP
Hold on, two guys following you everywhere are not part of a character? That makes no sense.

id imagine the barbarian summons werent a thing at that time.

They were, they were introduced a while before -a became a thing.

Re: Summons in RP
Tribesmen barbarians are so old that they've been here since before I joined the server.
-A was an addition about... two years ago. Damn I'm getting old.
In any case, I'd be happy if you could -a with any summon and henchmen that you have. In the case of tribemen this is particularly needed since they are kinda hard to employ as a RPing tool. (it's pretty hard to RP any sort of emotional attachment when you can spawn and toss nameless tribemen that rush to facehug literal grinding machines to death. I guess everybody that plays a barbarian has to face that challenge or face certain suspension of disbelief when dealing with it).

Re: Summons in RP
Animals dominated with Animal Empathy also can be spoken through, but ONLY if you have less than 75% Ranger levels. More than that and you get the henchmen type companions which can't be spoken through.

I would love if you could actually emote for your horse, for example.

Re: Summons in RP
I must be misunderstanding something...I’ve used -a all the time to have my animal companion and familiars speak. Besides the Tribesman, this allows the OP to do what he’s asking for does it not?

Re: Summons in RP
OP is wanting summons rather than companions/familiars to speak, I think. They, like the tribesmen, can't.

It's not a "rather than", it's an "in addition to".
