Lore question - why is Bahamut reptilian-only?
Going off the wiki, it looks like Bahamut has followers of all races, not just dragons - even before the Spellplague.
Re: Lore question - why is Bahamut reptilian-only?
Probably because becoming part of the clergy is very difficult for a non-reptilian:
Cleric Training: Bahamut's few nondragon clerics learn the Platinum Dragon's teachings at the foot of a dragon, usually an older gold or silver dragon in humanoid form. The relationship is one of teacher and student, with the duo typically traveling to see the effects of injustice and cruelty firsthand.

Yeah, but at the time that Arelith is set in Bahamut is experiencing something of a renaissance of worship among nondragons due to his holy covenant with the monarchy of Damara. Seein' a lot of NOT GERMAN dragon worshipers these days.

Can't you take the gift that lets you worship a different-race deity?
Seems fitting, here.

That would require creating a new character, and considering the OP, it's unlikely that is the case.
Hm. I just had the strange idea of tying worship restrictions to language, rather than race.

Re: Lore question - why is Bahamut reptilian-only?
I was curious about why it is the way it is, not about the mechanical side of things.
Given some of the alignment/deity weirdness elsewhere (*gives Mystra a funny look*) I was wondering if there was a specific reason for Bahamut to be reptilian only, considering Kobolds are generally evil and Bahamut is LG, or if it was just an oversight somewhere.

Bahamut stands somewhat at odds with kobolds. He's respected and given the mandatory tithes by the dragon fanboys bois, but his ideals are alien to your standard kobold. They would very much rather the worship of their own gods, most evil-aligned draconic deities, and rarely Lendys. Even more rarely, non-draconic deities.
The racial restrictions for the deity system is generally weird, tho'.

Most kobolds are Lawful neutral and influenced by whoever dragon they fanatically revere at the moment btw. Just so happens that's most often a chromatic one who wants servants.
But the best way to view lore on Arelith is apparently to not bother with it. I mean, what stops you from worshiping bahamut and just playing it as is - while filling your gucci piety meter on ('insert-random shrine of your old deity here').

Kobolds are a "Usually Lawful Evil" race according to the Monster Manual 3.5.Xanos950 wrote:Most kobolds are Lawful neutral and influenced by whoever dragon they fanatically revere at the moment btw.
