'Healing' piety gain and regeneration spells.

If you have a deity with the healing piety gain effect, do you gain piety whenever you cast a regeneration spell, or whenever it ticks?

No it will -1 piety when you cast regeneration, and give you 0.5 for casting it too.. so you lose 0.5 for casting regeneration.

it would be FABULOUS if it did, even if it was only 0.1 per tick.

woulder never have to pray at alters again if it did 0.1 per tick.. extented regeneration last 1 hour for a level 30 healer.. thats 600 ticks.. pr. person.

Well your magic is quite literally keeping everybody alive... the more people you are keeping alive the more you should be "rewarded" for using your powers in a way in which befits the diety granting the power. I dont see why you shouldnt get something for that if you are H&H..

I think a more reasonable number would be 0.025 per tick though, getting 15% piety back over the course of an hour is not at all unreasonable.

It's unreasonable. I vote priests make spell components too see how they like it :P

I play both and would much much much prefer the ability to use spell components over piety.

piety gain could be worth looking into
deity system in general as well
why cant my weaponmaster worship shar because it is unoptimal to have a magic/trickery on a non-caster non-bluff character?
and why do wizards and sorcs need to suffer through having magic deities where each cast gives you no piety whatsoever
and dont get me started on piety gain from trickery when its all nice and dandy until LOLTH TAKES AWAY 25 PIETY NOW RANDOM JOE DIDN'T RECOGNIZE YOU, one tick later random joe recognizes you. geez, thank you spider queer.

but seriously, i think that getting more piety from healing your allies as a cleric is a good start on how to improve this system.

OH AND why is it that gods love when their worshipers touch plants???

Clerics do actually have better spells than arcanists, it's just they have less of them so overall their entire spell list might seem a little bit "meh" when compared to the more well-rounded arcane spellbook, but I wouldn't say that clerics already don't have spells on par with arcane ones /implosion, WoF, Harm, Gate, Gr. Resto/mass heal, etc. along with the access to the relevant epic spells and some of the better arcane spells with through domains/
