Enchanting

Post by Eyestrain » Tue Jan 09, 2018 2:25 pm

Hi all im a bit disenchanted about enchanting! My character has progressed to +2 weapon level and I made a steel axe. All I want to do is put D4 fire on it. 5% chance and 7k+, is this right? I saw an add by Mona for doing enchanting. Is this what I’m supposed to be doing and does anyone know if Mona is still around? Her add is on board in mercantile building. Or if not her, are there other active enchanters by any chance.

Game treats your steal axe as already having +2 to hit and damage, so it is harder to enchant (and easier for characters with enchanting feats). Enchanting is more for adding properties to mundane items. You could easily add permanent and temporary elemental essences to it.

Instead of enchanting that on to weapons, you can find something called a permanent essence.

Even with the right feats, I don’t think that will get over the 5% mark.

There are enchanters in the game. I can think of half a dozen off the top of my head. Best to ask around or put a notice on the message boards.
Katernin Bersk, Chancellor of Divination; Kerri Amblecrown, Paladin of Milil; Xull'kacha Auvry'rae, Redcap Fey-pacted; Sadia yr Thuravya el Bhirax, Priestess of Umberlee; Lissa Whitehorn, Archmage of Artifice

Yeah, difficulty to enchant new properties goes up pretty quickly. That's why Magic-deity enchanters with ESF: Enchantment are extremely useful. It's also why Runic items can be quite valuable, as that can raise the next enchantment success to 100%.

Yeah a bit frustrating considering the fairly small enchant I’m trying to add. Especially when I’m guessing an epic pc just shows me their weapon with d6 fire, keen, dispelling, +3 just to gloat. Oh well, I’m hopefull this stuff will be gettable down the track!

How did he get the "Dispelling" property on the weapon?

Was wondering that myself. Was thinking Holy Sword, but then it would have +5.

Could it be a spellsword related "enchantment"?

Ooh, yeah, could be the magic imbue.

Aside from the dispelling, those properties sounds like a greensteel weapon with a 1d6 fire essense on it - no enchanting involved.

Yeah was a great axe. Anyhow since then I’ve found the goodness that is essences! A much better way of enchanting imo.
