Sibayad (Desert Area) and UD Races

Hi, I found the desert area from the boat in crows nest. I was wondering if it is the same as all other surface areas and UD races are still not technically permitted unless disguised and seen as monsters and such. Or if the NPC allow anyone there? Thanks

Sibayd has always been a they are free to visit but like any other surface settlement they weren't really welcomed to ling for long periods of time. I know a DM once said Sibayd wasn't meant to be a UD surface hang out place. More of a trade post type place.

Keep in mind that there is an NPC who is auto-hostile to underdark races in Sibayad and will try to murder you, plus there's a kobold on the other side of the island who mentions the Sibayadi ran him off. Presumably that means they're not entirely okay with underdarkers.

Its long been established that sibiyad is neutral towards UD races, so long as you don't disrupt business. UD races aren't allowed to own property in sibiyad, but they are allowed to visit.

You don't need to be disguised, but don't expect to rest in town. If you are going to base in the area, you need to at minimum do so in the outskirts or farther.

I had a drow living in the ruins outside of town by the portal and never had any trouble. Plenty of PvP with errant surface PCs, but none with the DMs or NPCs. Ranulf is an outlier within sibiyad itself, and is not to be used reasonably as a barometer for the town. The entire settlement screams NE, with the slave trade, mercenary guards, and implication of drugs and prostitution. The paladin himself is out of place.

I think there's one that owns property there right now. Is this an actual policy?

That would be a question to bring up with the DM team. The best that other players can provide is anecdotes and hearsay.

Its quite alright for UDers to be there, and actually encouraged to come and trade. But its not recommend they live in the bazaar itself in any big numbers.

It most certainly is not encouraged.

In my experience, while the DMs do allow factions to claim psuedo-rulership over Sibayad, I'm not sure if that comes with any mechanical powers whatsoever. It's more like an OOC courtesy of the DMs to have the NPCs interact with and recognize a "ruling" faction.

This is generally just handled in the form of events and NPC interactions (again, in my experience,) and it is really more based on the whims of that faction how the general environment of Sibayad is handled when regarding UD races.

Whether they are invited to trade or pass through very quickly.

I miss The Black Chain.

I recall a DM/admin ruling about monsters and outcasts not being allowed any quarter within populated places.

That is correct. But the two guildhouses outside of Sibayad are free game, or so Noxt told me. Meaning if a monster PC is actually in Sibayad, it's either by special exception, or they're losing that quarter.
