Multiple paths?

Post by Bjorn Blue Tiger » Sun Sep 24, 2017 11:26 pm

Is it possible to have more than a single path? For exemple, a kensai barbarian talking to a tribesman trainer (if it exists)?

Thanks.

You can have a path related to every class.
For example, wizard (wild mage) and sorcerer (shadow mage), but this is provided you find the trainers in game.

In your case, this cannot be done since there are no kensai or tribesman trainers.

No, you can't.

Having Shadow Mage and Spellsword won't allow you to take Wild Mage. And I am pretty sure you can't take Spellsword if you have Wild Mage. Not sure about Shadow Mage but I think its the same there.

The oooooonly exception to this that I know is the ranger totem path, which is not really a path.

Mechanically, certain paths are mutually exclsive : wild mage/shadow mage/spellsword.

However, there's no 1 path per class rule or anything like that. Just a lack of opportunity (other than rangers) to take a second path on the same class at the moment.

I don't think Iceborn's example is true either, I don't think you can be a wild mage/shadow sorcs.

I had my favored soul get turned into a warlock and keep his 50% spell failure reduction and unlimited revivals.

Actually, the shadow mage example was a poor one.
Shadow mages are, I think, explicitly coded to not be able to take other wizard subpaths, as written by Mithreas.

Let me demystify a little about this..

Multiple paths on a CHARACTER are allowed, both from programming side of the server as well as from admin stance on it - I've never seen anyone condemned for it unless they do not keep the RP of it.
So for Example: Healer/Totem Druid/Warlock is possible mechanically... would it be possible to justify from RP sense I leave that to You

Now as for multiple paths on a single class:

Majority of paths in Arelith are allowed to be added only once - at the character creation entry area, they are added through the conversation which is started on arelith entry.

Paths that can be added ONLY at character creation:
  • Healer
  • Archer
  • Sniper
  • True Flame
  • Kensai
  • Wild Mage
  • Shadow Mage - To be changed
  • Favoured Soul - no longer available
Paths that can be taken LATER:
  • Totem Druid
  • Totem Ranger
  • Spellsword
  • Harper-sepcific paths
  • PDK-specific paths
  • Warlock
The only ones thus which can result in multi path combinations on a single class are:
  • Ranger - Sniper/Archer/Totem Ranger
The Totem Ranger code DOES allow to take TOTEM on a previously pathed ranger thus Archer/Totem OR Sniper/Totem is ALLOWED and will not generate any conflicts on Your character playwise
  • Mage - Wild Mage/Shadow Mage/Spellsword
Spellsword code checks for existing Wild Mage OR Shadow Mage therefore Wild Mage/Shadow Mage +Spellsword is NOT ALLOWED
Shadow Mage code on pacter NPC checks for existing Wild Mage OR Spellsword therefore Wild Mage/Spellsword + Shadow Mage is NOT Allowed
  • Bard - Favoured Soul/Warlock
Didn't check the code but obviously allowed.. seems like a bug to me but won't bother to change it as Fav Soul is disabled currently
  • Sorcerer - True Flame/Shadow Mage
Shadow Mage code on pacter NPC checks for existing True Flame therefore True Flame/Shadow Mage is NOT ALLOWED.

Slight correction. Wild Mage has a trainer and can be taken beyond character creation.

To add to that the Trainer won't allow you to take Wild Mage if you have any other path.

Also I think you can take Spellsword at character creation.
