Epic Mage Armor?

Post by WhiskeyGuy » Tue Aug 22, 2017 6:58 pm

Do you need 20 in your casting stat to qualify for EMA? I read that somewhere, but... NWN's wiki says no, and I don't see any changes on Arelith.

Thanks!

You need to be able to cast level 9 spells, or be a level 15 or higher PM. I believe "be able to cast level 9 spells" includes having at least 19 CHA or INT in this case, but I'm not totally certain.

Thanks... I was wondering if it was 19 or 20... May have been another server that had the 20 requirement.

Not true if I recall correctly.
The original tooltips are misleading.

EDIT: I went to check because I wasn't sure.
You need epic levels in the casting class to take epic spells, but you don't need to be strictly able to cast level 9 spells - which means, you can have, if you want, 12 of intelligence.

I'm not too sure either but I think you NEED to be able to cast lvl 9 spells OR have 15 PM lvls. so in case you don't have 15 PM lvls and you get access to EMA from sorc or wizard, you might as well be required to have 9th spell circle (and lvl 21 in that class) to get access to EMA

it's level 9's or 15+ PM. A 10 fighter/4 bard/16 PM with 8 wis, int, and charisma could take EMA.

When I said I 'went and checked', I didn't mean I just looked over NWN's wiki article.
I rolled a wizard, leveled up and tried a few combination levels, and I couldn't take EMA without +20 wizard levels.

So saying you need level 9 spells is very misleading.

I asked about INT though... I know you need 21 levels.

And we got your answer - the casting stat doesn't matter. You can have 8 of int, wis and cha and still get to cast epic spells if you have everything else.

I don't think it was changed for Arelith because there are many combat PMs that still take epic spell feats, and very few of them have their casting stats above 'high'.
