Questions about Crossbows

I have a couple questions that are crossbow related from the wiki site.

Is there a use for that one? I created two bundles that look like firewood, and tried using them on bolts and on xbows. They got used without any effect.

Can it use normal bolts like any other crossbow? Or is it ammo specific?
Also, does it have a specific unique appearance, like the Gonne?

The original drow crossbow can be described in one word. Abysmal. It uses the manticore spikes ability, firing 8-10 spikes that home to as many as... five(?) Targets in an area. They do d6 damage each, which means they do not pierce even the most basic DR and do, in even the most ideal conditions(one target, no wards) an average of 35 damage.

Its a good weapon at lvl 3, but can't be used until much later. You 'use' the repeating bolt item to replenish charges on the bow itself.

It looks like a mundane crossbow, and aside its 'use' ability, it has +1 AB

Manticore spikes target also sneakers.

Good to have. I almost killed mr Yasdia when he tried to sneak on me, he run off with "near death" after three salvos.

How can you target a hidden opponent that your can't see? Does this weapon hit the ground in an AOE fashion like spells?
