Altars
As player cannot say that altar is not of our deity, you are a heretic.
How can character know it is altar consacrated to its deity at all.
And how can you tell altar is desacrated.
And how can you desacrate altar when you dont know its deity ))

Re: Altars
1. If the altar is consecrated to your deity, it tells you when you use it
2. It makes sense that your character can recognise an altar to a deity they worship
3. The act of desecration is basically destroying the connection an altar has to it's deity, generally it would be obvious that someone has tampered with an altar
4. If I poured goats blood on an altar in a church IRL, did I need to know who it was an altar for to desecrate it?

Re: Altars
Would be nice if using an altar did a lore check to identify the deity it was consecrated to, since I can see someone not wanting to desecrate an altar of an allied deity.

Caldura you cant use knowledge that altar is/is not of your deity so your character cannot have a clue.
And if you do not know it belongs or not to god (as character) than how it knows it can / should desacrate.
The ruling of team that asking someone within church to consacrate shrine and figure out the person is heretic (speaking in general terms only) leaves lots of awknard things like you "know" in character it is or it is not of your deity while you cant say that guy is not helmite as he says all the time?
From the ruling comes out that priest cant in fact recognize these things. Well perhaps it should be removed and not reveal this info at all.

Re: Altars
It's like your piety bar, your character has no IC knowledge of their piety score nor how much they get per 6 seconds when praising Bane or whoever.
And like Caldura said, it doesn't take a phorensics laboratory to realize someone pissed on the altar. I imagine trying to reconsecrate it as a non faithful could lead to some IC confusion which could be fun.
