Do both characters have to be in subdual for it to work?
If one is and one isn't will killing still happen from either?
Could we maybe make subdual the default setting so you have to actively choose to kill the other?
I personally hate PvP and would nearly always choose subdual over murderizing the other character but it would leave a very bad taste in my mouth if I was on subdual and they weren't. Easier to RP with a subdued person over a corpse anyway, especially with the new raise dead changes.
Since raise dead was made more difficult, I think that makes a very good case to make subdual default, IMO.

1) No.
2) If you're trying to subdual someone but they're using their +5 vorpal scythe, you risk getting murdered (you can still succeed in subduing them). Trying to lasso them if they toggle -unrelent, they'll die, or escape if they get really lucky in a 5%.

Re: Subdual
Trying not to sound like an idiot but it's still not clicking.
If -I- have subdual on then I can subdue them/lasso them etc.
If -they- do not have subdual on, even if I do, they will murder me.
If we -both- have subdual on, we will beat the tar out of each other assuming neither of us are doing OMGWTF dmg in one hit.
If one of us has subdual on, where does -unrelent come into play? Do I turn it on to bypass their subdual or do they turn it on to allow themselves to die even if I'm still in subdual?

Unrelent exclusively comes into play when you try to lasso a subdued character.
IF they have unrelent on, they will probably die (5% that they don't).
IF it is off, they will be successfully roped up.
