Was messing around on a new character in Cordor Sewers...fighting rats...feeling like a hero. Touched a normal door...41 pts of electrical damage to a starting mage. Poof. Might has well been a disintegrate spell.
Is this the random trap script? Could this maybe be looked at for our lowbie areas? I know "wbthtga" but this is just discouraging.

Ah yes, the good old minor electrical trap:
It's so much stronger than the other low level traps, only fire gets close with 5d6.
Code: Select all
minor 4 creatures, 15 ft radius 8d6 electrical reflex 19

Re: Cordor Sewers - Traps Relook?
Cordor sewer traps have been one-shotting newbies for quite some time now.
It's a big reason why many new adventurers head straight for the bramble and the outskirts right after the ship rats. The Sewer Rat hideout and the Cordor coal mines are also alternatives for newbies not wanting to get turned to ash for daring to open a door.
You can also camp out in Brogendenstein which has some nice newbie areas.

The Andunor sewers does this too on occasion if I recall. I personally think traps that one-shot lowbies in lowbie zones is terrible, self-defeating design, as it actively discourages PCs in the intended level range from using the area.
Plays: Durvayas(deleted), Marco(deleted), Hounynrae(NPC), Sinithra Auvry'ndal(rolled), Rauvlin Barrith(Active), Madeline Clavelle(Shelved)

No, don't even go there. That trap is crude and blisteringly obvious - not a decent reflection of the trap mastery that should be a kobold lair, even if it can't be disarmed.pigman wrote:I feel tge same about the fire trapped chest in the kobolds
Hell, it's probably designed that way just to get the point across to younger adventurers.
I actually fell for it though when I first went in there.
