Blade thirst

It grants the enchantment but not the on-hit regenerate.

It should come up as "On hit ability" or some such - it shouldn't say "vampire regeneration" or whatever the effect is called.

Yep, but the on-hit effect doesn't do anything! You don't get HP back when you hit.

Are you a ranger or casting from wand/scroll?

A ranger cast it on me, however I have no ranger levels myself.

I think (not positive) that for it to fully work the ranger would have to cast it on your weapon, not on your character.

In order to gain the vamp regen the character wielding it must be a ranger of appropriate level

A month or So? Since vamp regen was moved to a custom script

That's sort of a major change to the spell and should probably have been mentioned somewhere.

EDIT: Would that change also impact the enchanted vampiric regen property?

No, it's hooked into the blade thirst spell, which was changed from applying:

-Enhancement Bonus
-Vamp Regen

To instead applying:

-Enhancement Bonus
-Custom On Hit heal effect

And the change was documented, kind of.
Ranger Spell Changes
--------------------
- Blade Thirst duration doubled.
- Blade Thirst vampiric effect now reliable (courtesy of Kirito).
- Camouflage and Mass Camouflage no longer stack.
Though the documentation is a little inaccurate. We didn't actually make vamp regen more reliable, we replaced it with a heavily altered version of the script the spellsword negative imbue uses, since there's no reason to use NWN's base, buggy vamp regen when we have a super reliable custom scripted one that works better.

I'm aware of that update, but nothing about it would lead me to think that the recipient of a blade thirst buff needs ranger levels for the vamp regen property to work.

That said, I do love that vamp regen (or the custom onhit that has taken its place) is reliable, and would love for the enchanted vamp regen to apply the same effect.

The workings of the item property are hard-coded, and will likely have to wait until haks/EE to be fixed.

Alternatively, you could try reporting how buggy vanilla vamp regen is on the Beamdog forums and hope they fix it.

I'm aware of how the actual vamp regen item property is all sorts of screwy and unfixable. What I was saying was that replacing it with the onhit heal as a permanent, enchantable effect would be nice, if possible.

That ought to be doable.

Is this still not adress-able in the EE?

I am late to the party - just started playing a ranger for the first time.

I'm not sure I understand why you have to be a ranger to get the onhit healing property? Is it a mechanical limitation or a design choice?
