Deep gnomes being attacked by earthkin patrols?

I once thought it was an isolated incident but with the recent letters on the fort boards I think for some reason the deep gnomes are being attacked by the patrols. can someone check into this? as far as I know my patrols shouldnt be attacking them. thanks!

deep gnomes are also marked as "enemy" by laurick
