This boss is still going through the door rather quickly and frequently, even after all the attempts to stop him from doing so.
Just now, I ran through the entire first floor as fast as I could, only had to fight three enemies on the way, and I was still too slow to catch him before he vanished.
One possible fix would be to move the door to the second floor from the south side of the room it's in to the north side, with the hope that would put enough distance between the boss and the door for him to not go to it.
