If you ask him if he's been out of the city, then ask about Wharftown he says,

"Yes, a small fishing village that's been steadily growing over the years. Usually a pretty peaceful place too. Nice place to go if you cannot take the chaos of Cordor"

I guess, if smoldering debris, thugs, and the chance encounter of meeting a drow war party is ones idea of peaceful
