Svirfneblin Universal saves and certain backgrounds.

I notice recently, a svirfneblin will not get the positive increase in save throws if I choose certain background. However the negative result of the background will effect my character.

For example - Bully back ground ( +1 fort save, -1 will save). My svirfneblin character gets the -1 will save but does not get the +1 fort save. Kinda frustrating because I use my normal award for the character . Any help would be appreaciated!

That's probably because both race and background attributes apply to the hide item, and svirfs already get +2 unisaves from their subrace, meaning that the background won't stack with it.

I'd advise sending a PM to the DM's to see if they can help you out with a remake if an award was used up on it.

Or possibly the admins could change the +1 fort on your hide to +3 fort. That should make it have the appearance of stacking properly, at least.
