Robe of Scintillating Colors: Daze Broken
The Robe of scintillating colors is a neat little item.
Purple light 10m.
Daze unlimited uses/day
Displacement 1/day
One problem.
When you use the daze ability from the item, you do the animation. It says you cast daze, you roll initiative, you even see the little mote of light from the spell travel to the target and then..... nothing.
The spell effect does not trigger a save, the effect does not go off. Literally nothing happens except the enemy does aggro you.

Sounds like you're using it on a target with more than 5 hit dice...?

The robe probably casts daze as if from a level 5 caster.Kuma wrote:Mithreas wrote:Sounds like you're using it on a target with more than 5 hit dice...?Spell Changes wrote:Daze: Works against any creature with hit dice less than or equal to the caster's class level.

I have yet to see a robe cast something.

Kinda begs the question of why squigs, a lvl 3-4 enemy, have more than 5 hit dice, though its always been a player complaint that arelith mobs have vastly more HP than they should. Even rats have what?...8-12HP?Mithreas wrote:Sounds like you're using it on a target with more than 5 hit dice...?
Speaking of, using it with a lvl 5 PC, it doesn't even work on giant rats. The spell is either completely busted, OR... and this is a distinct possibility, ALL mobs on arelith have too many hit dice for it to work, and you may as well remove the property from the item entirely, as it is functionally useless unless its being used to PvP lvl 4s.

Or the caster level is that of the robe...1? Not character 5?

The caster level should be the one listed on the robe. It should say Daze (number), the number being the caster level.

It's a sentient weapon robe.Thake wrote:I have yet to see a robe cast something.

The daze spell shows up on the robe as Daze(1).
If that is the spell level... it may as well be removed from the item entirely. It wont even effect a brand new PC. There is nothing on the module weak enough to be susceptible to it.
