Re: Do You Ever Wonder Why We're Here?

Somehow my characters are forgotten despite their close ties. I still remember Amand. Fondly. As for this topic... I found Arelith back in 06 when I was really in need of escapism from the real world. I had also been a long time fan of fantasy novels and had always wanted to try DnD, but it just wa...

Re: Inclusive RP - what does it mean to you?

It is not what you've experienced that is incorrect or not, that is personal and subjective. It is how you've been expressing it, and how you've been replying to other people that is. You've been tiptoeing around the passive-agressive line in order to vent out your frustrations. Don't expect to do t...

Re: Inclusive RP - what does it mean to you?

Come up with a character concept that you know you will have a lot of fun playing.

Then make it 100% about providing fun for others.

This dichotomy alone will help tremendously.

On Arelith, if you don't play to win, you usualy end up on top, as far as quality rp goes.

Oh wow, wasn't expecting to get a notification about this story when I logged on.

He did find somehing beautiful to love. He found a friend who became like a daughter, and it was one of the best roleplaying experiences I've had on Arelith, even if short lived.

Thanks again for the compliments!

Re: IC Talking about how "Death is Meaningless"

The way you give meaning to death, defeat, "injury" or most other potential negative experiences your character can experience or observe in others, is by giving meaning to lesser, more ordinary things they experience in everyday life. Do that together with a healthy degree of separation between who...

Re: A discussion on paladins, and zealotry

I found that playing a Paladin of Sune was a hell of a lot of fun. There were a lot of conflicting notions at work with that concept, that initially started as kind of a joke. How do you combine the notion of spreading and encouraging love and beauty and art, with the uglyness and gore and destructi...

DMs need to be more involved to drive RP. right now we have what amounts to endless bar RP because NOTHING happens besides pitter patter pvp that is pointless because of immortality. i remeber when DMs would have stuff like ghost randomly haunt cordor and everyone was trying to figure it out. it re...

Re: A suggestion to the american community

There's the fun fact that the server has not been "physically" based in NA for quite a few years now. And I'd be willing to bet that there're more people from all sorts of different timezones (including NA ones), than we imagine. Which leaves me confused as to how as simple request as: "Hey, it woul...

There's another rule that's been a golden standard on Arelith forever and that preceeds all other rules, always: The Be Nice Rule . Following other rules and DM guidelines to the letter in order to "get away" with stupid shit or to be able to lawyer your way out of having behaved like a moron? That'...

There're way too many people, over the years, that have left a mark for me. Quite a few of them have been mentioned before, or have actually posted on this thread. If I start listing names, this will take forever, because it is amazing just how much I do still remember, and how many players and char...

Re: Area is In Balance / Out of Balance / "Invasion"

I had made a few suggestions about this script many years ago, having interacted with it heavily on one of my characters. The one thing I think it needs the most, is to be expanded in complexity, so that it is not just a binary thing, that can get so dull that most people won't even notice it exists...

By the way Edens Fall, I really admire the spirit of what you are trying to do, and get the drive behind it. The only way this will ever work without the issues that so many people have pointed out so far (and that are already evident in some of the discussions), will be to keep it extremely bare bones and more of a player manual type of thing, rather than an extensive historical encyclopedia. Treat adject...

Re: Arelith SPOOKTOBER creative writing contest! (Add your own Eldritch Patron???)

I have this barely played concept of a duergar ranger/shadow dancer that wanders the Underdark guided by nightmares, premonitions, readings of guts and entrails, all in the pursuit of a song, the melody of the Wild Dark. In my mind I had imagined this thing as a an Ancient One / Eldritch Horror of s...
