Re: F to Pay Respects
Gotta jump in on this too, though I'll be honest, I had to Google wtf "F to pay respects" meant. She came in mostly as I was going out, so I didn't get to work with her very much. But, this place has been made MUCH better from her efforts, and now the greater NWN community gets to benefit from her d...

Re: Retro Gaming
Shining Force games were not mentioned nor one of my favorites for the longest time Herzog Zwei! Oh man, those are absolute gems right there! Split screen Herzog, baby! I'd toss in Iron Storm and Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Sega Saturn (I still own both, I've seen the Panzer game sell around $900 on...

Re: Please - XP progression from other than hacking up thing
It doesn't solve the merchant/crafter issues in this thread, but I highly advise those that want to play NPC type characters and one-offs to apply to be DMs. It's really a great way to be able to do this.

Re: "Rebuild Command" suggestion
Wouldn't changing your ECL so drastically also affect the party that you are with as well? So if there was a re-roller in there with -15 ECL, it would set your average party level way off, which would affect XP gains of your fellow party members, along with what spawns in an area, and maybe other as...

Re: Life without Discipline
You could always cross-class some discipline, it's not optimal, but it doesn't sound like you're looking for optimal anyways. I'm a big fan of skill points, and rarely make characters below 12 INT.

Re: The ease of use for arelith
I think it's kinda zero sum on how many players you turn away by having haks vs. how many players you attract by having haks, at least at this point in NWN's staggeringly long life. Something we did over the years quite a bit was to reach out to other places and communities to talk Arelith. I used t...

Re: Overwhelmed New Player!
While you're in game, check out the bookshelves and grab some books that interest you. Find a nice quiet pond and do some reading! The books cover many aspects of the Arelith game world. Asking other characters questions is a great way to break the ice and interact, and also to learn about the setti...

Re: The ease of use for arelith
Daemonheart, Even I see that haks are the way to go forward. I hate to be the guy to say it, but the community cannot be held back because of outliers on the technology spectrum. Sure, back in the day Arelith was built for exactly your specific type of computer in mind. We had concerns with placeabl...

Sounds awesome, you can't go wrong with a Ricky. I think a hilarious premise would be for your players to all start as low-life henchmen who are tasked to acquire a catapult.

Re: 2nd Edition D&D
So ye want to build yerselves a catapult, eh? From what I remember (fondly) of old D&D was that instead of having lots of tables to determine crafting success, you just had lots of lists of things you could buy with your gp (or electrum, or whatever metallic coinage you scrounged) You see, back in ...

DOS2:DM Mode
https://www.polygon.com/2017/5/9/15589492/divinity-original-sin-2-game-master-mode-gameplay-video-dungeons-and-dragons This looks really promising! Not quite a replacement for NWN in terms of PW stuff, but the idea of running a 4 person intimate campaign with some buddies looks really cool on this!...

Re: Information regarding named NPC Dragons
Ust'bath was named after the Charm of Making that Merlin utters in John Boorman's most excellent Excalibur. A nod to one of my favorite movies of all time. His actual history is only skeletal in nature (I always liked to keep things vague for maximum interpretation) in that he was the guardian betwe...

Re: Convince my girlfriend to play Arelith
Trojan has got it right. Nerd romance all the way. Have your characters make each other cloaks, with personal descriptions. Make a statue together. Make playing together part of your time together, it's just a backdrop for your shared experience.
