Re: Metagaming
Eh, unless you're talking about something different matching 1 person out of 1 disguised person is easier than 1 person out of 10 disguised people. As far as technical solutions, it looks like someone on the beamdog forums suggested a solution with a custom menu for that screen that could be added t...

Re: Metagaming
I realize that there has to be some room for conversation but I feel like this should have been a PM to the Contributor channel considering that some of it was less commonly known and now is much more commonly known. This stuff should be commonly known. The fact that it isn't makes it far easier to...

Re: Timer on Roll
IMO the best options is a system where everyone can eventually get an award at least in theory, a mechanical system... BUT! Where good roleplay and DM rewards can increase the speed (chance?) of getting said awards. Maybe both mechanical effects and DM judgement go into the same calculation with a ...

Re: Using Delevel to get to lower levels and play with friends
An example of potential exploitation: Level 30 character wants to level with his friends who are level 10, delevels. They go to a level 10ish dungeon and friends get full XP. Another level 10 group comes along and heated RP starts. The deleveled PC starts quickly leveling up, potentially even select...

Re: Arelith Promotional Drive
Xanrael - I think you make a really valuable comment in saying that a short video that highlights some key figures would go a long way. I'll add for any video made for tutorial/promotional purposes, I'd include PCs wearing the new outfits. They're a leap ahead of the stock options and quickly show ...

Re: Speedy Messnger Dialogue - Too much dialogue?
Yeah that's just hopelessly unrealistic I hate to say mate. People won't turn them off because then they need to leave the entire event to go and hit the 'speedy off' function. Maybe add the choice as a rest menu option as I'm assuming turning on/off speedies is just a dialogue flag so the code cou...

Re: Arelith Promotional Drive
Few thoughts: An elevator pitch video in a Youtube short format. Come up with a rough draft and run it by the player base for critique before making it live. This should be done before # 3. Either make or pick a pre-existing short video on the new player experience and the basics of RP. I dunno if y...

Re: Rename Giftwraps to 'Package'
I haven't seen these IG yet and don't know if these can be actually rigged with traps or not but... it sure would be cool to be able to rig them with traps that go off when they're opened. Or poisons as those are already balanced to not require hostile flagging before use. Either make "edible" pois...

Re: This is not a good decision IMO
What could be very constructive here are opinions on how the loot system around runic chests/shrines should work from different perspectives. You could use the existing writ system for this. Get a quest from a runic writ giver. Kill a boss/perform an action and it updates one of the objectives on y...

Re: Do You Ever Wonder Why We're Here?
A few others have spoken of similar, I'll take it a step further. My joy is in the occasional cool unscripted scenes that can emerge from role play, where it is unclear how the scene will resolve until the climax. I think elements of tension, conflict, and stakes are common, though it doesn't have t...

Re: The Inevitable Skal Change Feedback Thread
What's the alternative for enforcing the transitory nature of the place? Creating a time limit for existing in Skal where after x weeks you're auto teleported off the island and can never return? Or something along those lines? Given the level demographics posted for Skal I think it would take somet...

Re: PGCC Monk Feedback
I'm not sure a longer semantic discussion on whether monk is or isn't PrC-like is going to be beneficial for balancing. I do think most would agree it is very modular. That will mean more decisions and customization in building it. For me, I'm thrilled about that, others may not be. I do hope that a...

Monk Overhaul Feedback
Just going to get the ball rolling.
Monk abilities that scale off stats should either:
A) Not work when polymorphed
B) Have some cap based on tier or monk level.
Example, T'ai Ji Stance has some very large biteback returns when combined with Plant/Elemental shape.

A. I really like the items as a server friendly version of bags of holding. B. I can understand the value of the tactic of dropping an enemy's strength. One of my first PC's perma-deaths on another server a decade+ ago was due in large part to this exact tactic and I considered it a smart play by th...

Re: Hostilizer Countdown
For me at least, I see the biggest fear being caught mechanically flat-footed due from being mid typing and starting the fight at low health or what not. It might be useful to have a "ready" state command/tool where your character is stationary but isn't flat-footed. It would disengage as soon as yo...

Vermin/Swarmform Druid
Have a separate path for druids. Alternatively could be feat based. 1. Animal empathy works on vermin (bypassing mind immunity) but not animals. Probably should continue to work on magical beasts (some spider models are magical beasts). 2. Wildshape into vermin instead of animals, could just be a re...

Re: I Made an Evocation Specialist: I'm So Sorry.
Pretty much agree with what was said. Not using gold mobs I was able to get to level 24 soloing using the tactic and at that point I was constantly either in faction based groups or meeting people on the road so was all group-based for the remainder. It might not be there with the rest of the mages ...

Re: I Made an Evocation Specialist: I'm So Sorry.
Another option (though requires some foci feats or skillpoints) is dominate/animal empathy/leadership. I've played non-summoner/necromancer wizards before and soloed quite well just with dominate/animal empathy and taking advantage of stuff like shapechange into iron golem with extended frost shield...

Re: Fearmonger Build Help
A. Vanguard knight has a decent mind-immunity piercing intimidation/fear based debuff so could be something there. B. Ranged + gruesome could take advantage of the fear as you're fine being a turret. Also prevents having to worry about your melee flurry being interrupted because they ran. Plant an A...

Poisoning Wells Suggestion
Instead of poisoning individual PCs who can either shrug it off or die at level 3, have it work closer to a ritual effect. The citizenry (NPCs) fall sick and this could have a number of potential effects that could be implemented as a -x to a skill similar to the -heal ritual. For example trade/curr...

Re: Open Lock Skill Revisited
Personally I think considerations increasing the enjoyment of grouping would be more desirable then trying to reach parity off of efficient gold/hour. As a bit of a 'meh' example, have a repeatable writ event where the PCs have to defend a town from zombies/demons/etc. They defend multiple entry-way...

For a potentially more moderate example, picture some loanshark RP: Tom borrows money from Bob and his gang. He refuses to pay it back when it comes due. Scenario A: Bob and gang approach Tom in the Hub and demand the gold back. Scenario B: Tom enters his quarter to find Bob and gang lounging inside...
