Curses

I've thought about this a few times in the past based on other sandbox environs and I really feel there is a degree of cross-application, A series of curses, either spells cast, items usable, or curse using magistrate NPCs accesible to a settlement, that have lasting largely RP based effects. Such c...

Re: Leadership (megathread)

Extra votes do not appear to be based on base ranks.

I just got an extra vote in the mechanics test with no skill ranks at all.

Acid immunity on ooze summon

The ooze summon is currently a puddle of acid that can be damaged with acid. Unlike fire and cold, to which it is entirely immune.

This seems odd. I don't think it's especially potent in the meta as stands, it could have the common sense fix applied without really affecting game balance overmuch.

Re: Upcoming Change - Cover, Disguise and Examine

There is a degree of cause and effect. People who try to make a less restrictive of roleplay Guard faction, tend to get screwed over by the people who then complain that Guards are too restrictive. They then burn out and stop playing guards for a while. My experience is they burn out faster than the...

If the cover is pierced, can an underlying disguise then be pierced also?

Nautilus Street - No assign lesser nobility option

The sign on my current quarters (Nautilus Street - Cordor) does not allow the assigning of lesser nobles from it, despite it being listed in the update announcement notes.

Chancellorial debate

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who turned up. Especially the other folks who threw their hat in the ring. (Lavanya and Araceli)

Was super to see so many people engaged and roleplaying in Cordorian politics. Really hope everyone else enjoyed the spectacle also.

Thanks for being a good sport, you rolled with the capture well. Super pleased to have some RP resulting rather than a simple brawl.

Much obliged to the various underdarkers for making something happen.

Re: Life is a victory march; the gone priest

Been contemplating what to say on this for a while. Izzy and Vance interacted only infrequently, but from my side each encounter was incredibly memorable and meaningful. Drinks in Sibayad, a terse exchange on the isle of dragons, the more recent encounters which are perhaps a bit more FOIP. Much lov...

Re: Race Rotations

Out of curiosity Grumpy, would that potentially allow the team to re-enable custom 5%s or is that just too much of a Dev time sink to even consider? The volume of them at any time could presumably be more controlled if the prevalence weren't mostly a function of the people with the time and inclinat...

If you're just going wiz 30 the SD dip is probably an improvement. Retains CL and gets the stealth etc.

Re: Tristan Elur'on retires back to Tantras

We will never know how close Isabel was to yeeting the entire church :D
Was seriously great to see both groups roll with a difficult situation and make some fun RP and game out of it. Very much enjoyed the interactions I got with Tristan. Good luck with the next character :)

Re: PureClassing & Spot

Shadow daze is not quite useless. Save scales on int doesn't get spellcraft save bonus and it ignores mind immunity I believe. It's niche but it's better in Shadow mage than regular SD

Shadowdancer dip is better than wizard 30

Either common dip (ranger/Bard) is generally better than shadow dancer.

Re: A Name to a Face: What to Do When Metagamed?

Right. So mechanically it's possible to detect disguise. Because a character has mechanically disguised. There is no way to mechanically enforce detecting any of the other lies, there is no way (not should their be) for the mechanics to force a player to tell the truth at any juncture. I as a player...

Re: PureClassing & Spot

It is also a side effect (and an unavoidable one) of the level cap and the medium. A wiz 18/rogue 12 is, in PnP, not a terrible wizard. Outside of the immediate player party who by conceit level at the same rate as him he is likely one of the most accomlished potent wizards in the geographical regio...

Being disguised and breaking disguise is also an IC thing. ... There are certainly characters who may treat wandering round disguised as suspicious behaviour. Just to clarify, a character disguised whose disguise was not beaten by spot (and following the clear wiki guidelines) should be treated as ...

Re: A Name to a Face: What to Do When Metagamed?

Being disguised and breaking disguise is also an IC thing. My understanding is that if spot beats disguise and you get that little green text pop up, you can (if you wish) determine that the character in question is attempting to disguise themselves. There are certainly characters who may treat wand...
