Re: Economy Feedback
I'm not gonna quote anyone for this one, I'm just going to address a sentiment I'm seeing a lot here. I see a lot of defensive sentiment towards "what's wrong with me having a bunch of gold when I play a lot?" Nothing. I don't think that's the problem here. I think the problem here is two-fold. Firs...

Re: Economy Feedback
Allow two types of accounts; secured and unsecured vaults. The bank will guard your money for you, but it costs gold to do that - vaults to build, guards to hire, security experts that need to be supplied with equipment for complex locking mechanisms and traps. Allow banks to be burgled. Accounts wi...
Re: Invoker
Hot take - all spellcasters should have a spell component pouch in their inventory (yes, I'm looking at you, too, divine casters - ya'll get a lot of stuff that you can't use a holy symbol for), that they can purchase from any mage vendor for 3 GP. It should cover the components to most spells, and ...

Re: Discussion: Metagaming and IC/OOC confusion
Seriously? Bags is now a problem? Do we really need to go around policing what roleplaying words are allowed and not allowed aside from harmful, sexual, etc. words. You can use leylines all you want. You can't use it when looking at the playerlist, saying they are not on the ley, and not actually s...

Re: Rituals
My thoughts on FOIG all tend to slant one direction, which is that FOIG is a reductionist philosophy that attempts to preserve a sort of reverse dramatic irony (the players/audience can't know even though the characters they're playing could reasonably research and know these things), that ultimatel...

Re: Far Realm Deities
You may need to take a Gift of Devotion. I've tried this with an identical character on the PGCC and still doesn't work. A warlock character can take an Eldritch Entity as a deity. Devs, is this intended? I don't myself see any reason it would be illegitimate RP for a non-warlock to serve an Eldrit...

Re: Discussion: Metagaming and IC/OOC confusion
"On the ley" is super lame. I don't even know what that means. Often times, attempting to create IC justifications for server mechanics will always, always risk metagaming. "Ley lines" aren't an Arelith invention, the concept exists in D&D and other fantasy properties and it's not any more nonsense...

Re: Elementalist Overcharge
I feel like unloading unlimited 9th level slot spam at a dungeon boss spawn is a pretty solid tactic (magic-immune bosses notwithstanding), and since most boss fights immediately precede the end of a dungeon, you usually have plenty of time to regain mana after the boss is dead. Granted if the boss ...

Re: Summon Buff Changes
I'm actually less concerned about epics than the teens. There's a point around... maybe 10-16 maybe where your summons aren't quite good enough for the content as-is and maintaining buffs is a necessity. These items are going to be way too difficult for characters of that level to acquire. If it wa...

Re: Summon Buff Changes
I confess I don't understand the general distress. I've taken two separate arcane casters to epic levels, in varying amounts of both party and solo play. One of them is an evocation specialist wizard, no conjuration spells, and the other one is/was a true flame, meaning neither one could use any of ...

Re: How far, exactly does Cordor have jurisdiction/influence over Arelith?
god yall be some of the most rigid roleplayers I've ever met To be fair, I don't think anyone's trying to stimy border disputes. I think there's an interest in visualizing a map, which usually includes border outlines when differing sovereign settlements rest against each other. Nothing saying that...

Re: Warlock Pact RP
I watched a level 6-8 warlock get lynched in Cordor the other week for the crime of being seen using eldritch blast in the Bramble Woods. That sort of thing gives me a bad taste in my mouth for a base class that while worthy of suspicion and caution, doesn't turn you into Mega-Hitler in any other i...

Re: Is it Too Easy to be a Non-Evil Monster?
I don't necessarily think it's too easy to be a non-evil monster, nor do I necessarily think that there's too many of them. One of the first things worth noting about the generic drow (to focus on one example, but IMO a premier one for the underdark) stat block is that they are usually Neutral Evil....

Re: Current TFs: Migration or Grandfather
It would require Admins' decision, yet it is worth a shot to draw their attention. Possibly, on the invoker release, the TF path is no longer selectable, but the automated script to migrate is not executed the same day, but a couple of weeks after to give people time to react with RP, one way or th...

Re: Current TFs: Migration or Grandfather
Is there really, honestly, an answer for this that would be enough? The devs have said on this and every other grandfathering attempt that it makes things harder for them. Trying to balance mages, spells, spawns, etc, around weavemaster was hard enough it got chunked. What kind of hypothetical futu...

Re: Current TFs: Migration or Grandfather
Having to consider what update number 1000 will do to grandfathered things when you're currently on update 500 is development nightmare; now we have to write all this extra code because 5 people complained that so they could play things exactly the same as before. I respect this line of thought, bu...

Re: Current TFs: Migration or Grandfather
Trueflame needed changes. I know you're going to disagree. It's irrelevant. You don't have to feel it was necessary, but for the vast majority of people, they wouldn't have shown any interest in the class because it was absolutely a massive trap. You're talking about how this new class is so much w...

Re: Current TFs: Migration or Grandfather
Wouldn't the more productive path here be to participate actively in the testing and feedback of the TF replacement class, to make sure that it feels as good as possible for TF users as well as everyone else? rather than clinging to the past It would be, if the reason I didn't want to be migrated w...

Re: Current TFs: Migration or Grandfather
Grandfathering is a terrible thing for the development side. It's like leaving leftover spaghetti in the fridge. It starts to rot after a few years. And instead of throwing the spaghetti out, one has to spray deodorant around it to keep everything else not smelly. I get where you're coming from on ...

Current TFs: Migration or Grandfather
I realize I'm probably not the only one who has a TF that they still spend time on. The question is in the title- I'm not staff, and the outcome of the poll in no way guarantees that's what'll happen, I'm just curious about the sentiments of the current TFs. The invoker sub-classes are clearly mecha...

Regarding TF: I'd personally prefer if these were just grandfathered in. Its not to say I wouldn't like to play the new class, however I do like my TF also and these do feel like totally different classes to me. Please. Pretty please, this, instead of... True Frost - Path decommission The path will...

Re: True Frost: Why play it?
People continually associated the class with some sort of flame-based concept due to the name. To hammer the point in that that wasn't the intent with "True Flame" they renamed it to its polar opposite. The path was never objectively good. It's always served as a gimmicky concept. A potentially str...

-snip And, if I may respectfully add, you can still have fun while playing a "suboptimal" build. A good build isn't what makes a character memorable. Having a higher ability score than most others won't make you stand out. It'll help if you are roleplaying someone extremely (insert ability score ad...

Re: Character awards & Writs
{Respectful Snip} Yet also, I can't think that a -1 deficit in a useful ability score will mean that a character is completely, utterly and comprehensivly unplayable or even unlevelable. Sure they won't be the most optemised thing in the universe, maybe not absolutly top-tier at PvP or completing a...

Re: New and Overtuned
The only thing I really, really have a problem with are the Greater Shadow Spiders, their crippling strike (which is completely unavoidable if they web you!) is just dreadful, chugging lesser restoration potions after every fight is simply not fun IMO. For what it's worth, if you can find a cleric ...
