Swashbucklers get the advantageous climb bonus described in the recent update, yes

sounds like you just happen to get caught up in someone else's PvP... that the RP and rules and such may very well have been followed by them for their intended target, and you just happen to be caught up in the radius. The fact you ended up dead is a very rare thing, and had you -not- ended up dead...
