Just wanted to say how encouraging it is to see more than 90 people on the forums right now.

Whatever you guys are doing here it sure is working!
I would recommend you read the topic, it's not trending for any good reason.

Please stop with the personal attacks guys or the topic is going to get locked and for better or worse all discussion will stop at that point.

Re: Accountability

I'm almost immediately skeptical of anyone claiming they were perma'd for nothing given some of the actions of total moral degeneracy that result in a talking-to and nothing more. There's more to these stories I'm sure but if you arn't the person who got banned please don't ask the DM's to make thin...

Re: Outcast recognition

I think it works best for 'settlement' npc's to do it because they're the ones that know it. And it costs alot because it really should be coming out of city funds to look up a potential problem individual. Could also be a shifty dude at a few bars in game to do it too, they could also spill the bea...

Re: Outcast recognition

I thought it would have been a more immersive option if a citizen of a town was able to go to their city NPC and pay 50,000 gold or something, and then ask if a PC was an outcast or not by saying their name. Then the NPC checks the record and confirms or denys it. This would have been a far far bett...

Re: Outcast recognition

That is a good question. How does someone know I'm an outcast if they don't know my name? This is looking at it from the wrong direction. People don't know who you are, because you're an outcast. You're an outcast, because everyone knows who you are. (or at least such a vast majority of people that...

Re: Improving Slavery

A slave that can corpsebash his or her owner should be allowed to be free, as a master that is weaker than his or her slave does not deserve to pretend they should be able to control that slave. The weak should fear the strong. This would just result in 'kill the masters' style slave revolts consta...

Re: Outcast recognition

It is, quite literally, a scarlet letter. A tag that does nothing but increase the 'us vs them' mentality that has been creeping in since the removal of the Portal Chamber. Since then, for example; Global teleports, we have dramatically lowered the surface/UD player physical contacts. I am of the op...

Re: Myon Overhaul?

As for my own feelings on the change, while I understand the part about us being the guests on the Devs' playground, I really hope the last 3-4 years of fairly consistent and thematic old Guldorand RP is acknowledged in New Guldorand.
I hope so as well. I really do.

Re: Myon Overhaul?

Dragonfyre already linked a post to the original announcement of the elf-quarter; evidently, Myon remains independent and will have control/authority (in some fashion, perhaps directly?) over the elf-quarter. Initial concerns about Dragon Age-stye elf ghettos are potentially unfounded. As described...

Re: Myon Overhaul?

Does an independent elf settlement not match the DM's vision of the island? Is that why it's being removed and why a race-ghetto is potentially being added?

Re: Myon Overhaul?

It's been suggested to me, by some of the patrons, that Myon will just be turned into a racial enclave inside of Guldorand. Can this be confirmed or denied? It seems a little bit of an off-key merger, when you consider that Myon and Guldorand (as player groups) have rarely had terribly well-meshing...

Smash neighbor [True Tales of Human Drama]

(I see no requirement for the 'talent show' to be Arelith exclusive anywhere and see a few non-arelith 'talent' examples so enjoy this) --- The following story is 100% true, no fabrication or embellishment has taken place. Only the names have been changed to protect the identities of those involved....

That isn't true for a huge swath of the server.

All that was accomplished here was more expensive hub shops.

Re: Neutral Shops in the Hub: [All the advantages, none of the weaknesses]

Nobody expects them to eat it. But it does put them on closer to even footing with the districts and the less fortunate merchants by positioning rather than cementing a monopoly on quality prices on top of high traffic positioning. All that happened here was goods in one location becoming 10% more ...

Re: Neutral Shops in the Hub: [All the advantages, none of the weaknesses]

All the taxes did was make hub stores 10% more expensive.

If you think merchants are going to eat that 10% you are out of your mind. Reverse trickle down.

As long as gold isn't going into a black hole and the coin is accounted for and actively employed, that should be better.

Well I guess 10% of every purchase now goes into the Aether if you're buying in the hub, so mission accomplished for this topic I guess.

Re: Neutral Shops in the Hub: [All the advantages, none of the weaknesses]

There's no need to go all underline bold italic here. If the Ud settlements focused on stability and profitability then quality shops would come. Again, use eviction powers to get rid of terrible shops and give incentives to prospective shop owners who have inventory to sell. I don't know if even th...

Re: Neutral Shops in the Hub: [All the advantages, none of the weaknesses]

I agree with everything TimeAdept said. In addition, you don't need a higher tax rate for non-settlement shops. You need better shops in the settlements. It's all a bunch of overpriced garage sales. Sell things people need and want. Price reasonably. The customers will throw money at you. You don't...

Re: Neutral Shops in the Hub: [All the advantages, none of the weaknesses]

Begonethoth popping in to argue in bad faith, as usual. Taxes in the hub and wheels are 10%, at best. Trickle down economics doesn't work in Andunor. Lowering taxes in the districts is not going to incentivize people to buy shops there, or FROM shops there. Almost all shops are full continuously, a...
