Re: Level requirements for thieves tools

Is it ten total levels of those classes? E.g. 5 rogue, 3 assassin, 3 SD would be able to craft +12?

Re: Lolth and Her dogma Or Lack There Of

Don't know what you consider official, but in the book Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting : Dogma: Fear is as strong as steel, while love and respect are soft and useless. Convert or destroy nonbeliever drow. Weed out the weak and the rebellious. Destroy impugners of the faith. Sacrifice males, slave...

Re: Does anyone else find it weird that Druids fight animals

It's not really the RP reasons that get to me, It would just be nice to have mechanic where you DIDN'T have to kill every animal in the game. - Use Animal Empathy, player tool, send the animal far away before releasing domination and then do the same to the others. - Use spells like Sleep, Entangle...

Re: Does anyone else find it weird that Druids fight animals

Here are some different ways of coping or thinking about it: - Use Animal Empathy, player tool, send the animal far away before releasing domination and then do the same to the others. - Use spells like Sleep, Entanglement, Grease, Charm Animal, Dominate Animal, Hold Monster, Stonehold, non-lethal s...

Re: How viable is a RDD caster?

Not going to be the greatest, but I think something like 20 Sorc/10 RDD would be fun to try out as a True Flame Sorc - All fire spells!

Re: Should you RP through dungeons?

The potential of other people attacking you adds to the danger and adventure of the island. After encountering this, how will you respond? Next time will you be more wary about meeting strangers? Maybe someone in your group set it up? Maybe you'll purchased scrolls or wands to escape the next situat...

Re: Heartwood Grove TIMELINE

History is written by the victors.

I think this sort of thing should really be kept track of IC though, as it certainly provides a massive amount of RP for characters who are interested in local histories. Particularly for druids, who typically have oral traditions of passing on their histories.

Re: How much freedom is allowed in creating backstories?

Source books can be found online in PDF, they're a good place. Try the Candlekeep forum too. Wizards of the Coast often have a bunch of extra articles that come out in particular subjects, so read through those too! Reality is, when there's a talking bear walking about, the question on people's mind...

Re: Overrides and 'Telepathy'

1. It's all optional. I wouldn't call this the start of a slippery slope at all, since many have been using overrides for sounds/portraits/heads/hands/not-running-like-you're-skiing/skyboxes/textures/pretty HUD's/spell icons/colours/fonts and so on, for ages. All of these are just helpful little thi...

Well I meant more that the area remains open, but instead of a storage chest there would be a player-run shop.

Re: Raiding/Stealing common storage

Could I suggest that these open storage chests either become a PC run store, or become locked away? I'm not sure how many more there are on the server, but I'll use the Grove/Brambles for the example. Brambles - If we replace the chest with a store, then the PC who runs it (I assume will be active m...

Re: Desecrating Altars

Most of the issues with this can be fixed with a cooldown that toggles the factions to non-hostile. Makes no sense for the NPCs who didn't see anything to be hostile to you, in another area, other side of the island, another Plane of existence... So, set an appropriate amount of time for a PC to be ...

Re: No Level Restriction?

If you could put the 'How it affects friends OOC' argument aside for a moment, consider how it affects characters IC. Low level characters are more likely to seek out powerful groups or individuals to sponsor them. Higher level characters or factions will be able to exchange these sought-after items...

Where does your inspiration come from?

I'm generally very curious about how people's minds work. Recently I've been looking into the area of inspiration, and Arelith is a perfect place where this gets cultivated. So, my question for everyone is, where do you find your inspiration for your characters? It might be a general concept, a them...

This is kind of like in Cordor Sewers where I swear you hear someone call out 'Bombs away!' followed by a wet squelch sound.
